Description

Dependable insulated pullover that doesn't quit working once it's wet.

If it gets a bit cold and damp on the cloud-shrouded hike back to the car or the overnight fall backpacking excursion, slip on The North Face Blaze 1/2-Zip Insulated Jacket. The unique power of synthetic insulation locks in your warmth even in foggy or drizzly conditions. Plus, with the FlashDry thermal technology, this pullover dries and expels moisture faster than traditional synthetic insulators so you don't have to worry about sweat building up inside it during hikes or around the campfire at night.

  • Polyester insulation (60g) features tiny synthetic fibers that absorb very little moisture, dry quickly, insulate when wet, and compress easily
  • FlashDry thermal technology features microporous particles in the insulation to encourage the evaporation of moisture in the insulation as well as from skin, which enables evaporative cooling during hikes
  • Tough, recycled polyester shell (20D) can be worn as a top layer or a mid-layer when things get nasty
  • Recycled content reduces fossil fuel consumption and the amount of waste in landfills
  • Baffles help keep the insulation in place over time
  • Half-length zipper provides a little venting when you warm up in the sun
  • Adjustable hem, bound cuffs, and full collar further seal out the cold weather
  • Entire jacket only weighs 10.9 ounces and stows into its own pocket for easy hauling in a backpack or pant pocket
  • Two hand pockets stash hiking or travel essentials within reach
  • Three-color front zip adds a bit of stylish detail to your traveling or time in town

Typical of TNF, seems well made. However, cut on the small and short side. Would be good worn over a light shirt. A little more like a sweater than a jacket. Consider a size larger.

The redpoint is a very versatile piece, its one of my favorite mid layer options because of its nice balance of being a solid insulating layer with out being too bulky or too warm. I use it most under a shell on those colder days, and is nice to have on for the skin up or accent because it keeps me warm with out over heating.

This is a great product and fits a specialized gear category perfectly. First, don't be confused by the name. This item is part of the Blaze lineup. I contacted TNF & BackCountry.com to confirm -despite this confusion, the item received had the exact indicated specs and the tag label is 'Blaze 1/2 Zip Pullover' (A36E0C5-M).
I?m 5?10? / 165lbs & the Medium is a perfect fit. Mastering the pullover movement required for on/off use may take a few tries, but once accomplished, can even be done while wearing glasses.
A few critiques: no zipper garage for main zipper (not a problem since it?s mostly used partially zipped and still doesn?t chafe when fully zipped); seam below zipper track is not backed and could be a source of heat loss (it?s a very small gap); lining is delicate and can protrude if garment is used in a hurry (zippers can snag pocket lining and sleeve lining can overlap cuffs when putting on (just be smooth & slow when putting on-part of mastering the pullover technique; finally, the bottom hem doesn?t have a synch (drawstring) so heat can also escape there in windy conditions (understandably not included for weight & stuff size).
A few notes on design/fit. This piece is excellent when a jacket is too much or when you need to wear something warm inside as well (so you don?t get asked if you?re staying!). The back doesn?t drop down (it?s even across like a sweater) so you aren?t sitting on it, yet it falls below the belt for adequate coverage. Best uses for me include worn over capilene and/or under a shell (it rocks both!).
Kudos to TNF for another outstanding product and fast/friendly service from BackCountry.com is awesome!

I'm 168cm,70kg. S size just fits me.
Light and warm enough.
Zippers of pocket sometimes jam.
