I got these tights hoping they would answer all my long distance trail run needs. I had stopped buying TNF products for a few years as I felt that their quality was low for the price, and I also wasn't that into the direction their style was going...then they started building up their trail running image and I because a fan again...I love TNF better than naked and eat my dust shorts, and have also liked some of their recent poly blend yoga tanks and tees...so I had high hopes. First the positive: the blue color is very pretty, the fabric is rugged yet comfortable, creative pocket designs. I do find them to be flattering and I kept thinking they would be great hiking or gym capris (though the fabric is a little too outdoorsy for gym pants) but as far as trail running tights....I tried to love them, but after taking them out for several runs in varying weather conditions, unfortunately they are not quite up to the task. The problem is the fit. I am always a medium in TNF and other brands, and while I am standing still the medium in these is a great fit. As soon as I start really running however, the pants start to ride down...they fit well on the legs, and so I really don't think I would go down in size, but the design of the waist is such that it doesn't stay up well enough when running. I found myself pulling up my pants frequently and because of this I would never wear these for a race. This issue also renders the clever pockets useless, becuase as soon as you add weight to the pants they fall down even more. Also, whenever I have issues with uneven fit, it's usually that the waist is too tight (if they legs fit well) because my waist is proportionally bigger than my thighs, so I feel like this problem would be even worse if you have a thin waist. I think that they need to redesign the waistband to be made of a tighter fabric than the rest of the tight. There is an inner drawstring, but this is never a good solution....if you tie it tight enough to keep the pants up, you lose out on comfort.
Again, if you aren't going to run in them, I think they would be great (though perhaps overpriced) as they are well-made, nice fabric, comfortable and attractive, but they are not the trail running tights I had hoped they would be.

These are great! Super comfortable. Feel great on. Love the pockets. For some reason, it's very difficult to find women's athletic wear with usable pockets but this has some good ones. The zipper pocket on the side fits my iPhone 6. Got these mainly for hiking/backpacking to either wear alone or throw on under skorts on chilly summer mornings. I've worn them out walking our local bike path and they are extremely comfortable. They're the kind of leggings that you kinda "forget" you're wearing, like a second skin. Unfortunately, my first pair got snagged on a branch, which put a little hole in the thigh so I ordered another. After a few times of wearing them with the hole, it did not spread or get any larger.
I have a pretty athletic/muscular shape and usually I wear a medium in TNF stuff but this time around, I ended up having to send the mediums back and order a large. Though they fit, they were a little too snug for comfort, so I'd safely say these run small.
