Not all of us have a different pair of trail runners shelved in our cavernous walk-in closets for every kind of terrain and weather. Fortunately, The North Face engineered the all-purpose Men's Betasso Trail Running Shoe for the rank and file, muddy-and-grinning trail runner with barely enough space in his apartment for a dachshund and a potted plant. Breathe easy through the ventilating lightweight mesh while the harness stabilizer and medial heel post protect your foot's natural stride path. The North Face Betasso's featherweight UltrATAC rubber outsole grinds through the muck like a Sherman tank on uppers without sacrificing the trifecta of comfort delivered by a Northotic foot bed, tri-density EVA midsole and X2-O2 heel cushioning.
Bottom Line: Meet the elitist eschewing workhorse of the off-road revolution.
well, pros: good support, very confortable cons: last a couple of months with very little use! the mesh on the front top was broken after 2 month! My son has the same model and has no problem, I think this one was defective...
I've never bought a pair of running shoes in my life, but I'm looking to start running about 2-3 miles a day outside and I live in the mountains. Is this a decent shoe for that?
Do a trail sport, use a trail product... If you live by the mountains, a trail running shoe is better than a road running shoe for three main reasons: Protection, stability and grip
If you're going to be running trails then yes, but for road running you should get a regular road shoe. I have used my Mizuno Wave Riders (9, 10, and 11s) on roads and crushed gravel trails at home as well as mountain trails in Montana. I've never felt like I needed more support or protection than what I got from the Mizunos. That being said, you really should go try some shoes on before you buy anything.___________________________________I will second what Barrett said. These will be great for trails, especially in the mountains. If that's what you are looking at, my I also recommend Montrail Hardrocks:http://www.backcountry.com/store/MON0076/Montrail-Hardrock-Trail-Running-Shoe-Mens.htmlThese are considered IMO the "Subaru Outback" of trail shoes. They are extremely popular, comfortable, very durable, and is the heart and soul of the Montrail trail shoe line. A solid shoe.

I'm glad other people are liking this shoe. I've had problems with it. The front portion of the sole has come off of both shoes (within 2-3 months of use). I tried to glue it back, but that didn't fix it for very long. I like how sturdy the shoe feels while running, especially around the heal, I just hope the sole doesn't come completely off the front.
Got it on sale online, never regretted anything. These shoes rock! Other shoes make my feet hurt, but this one; never... Makes me wanna walk, run, hike all day long... Name it, it'll do it!
I am VERY flat-footed where my ankles (very painfully)curve in when I walk if I don't have enough support. I have been walking all over DC the past few months I've owned them with no pain. They seem to be wearing well too, not looking beat after a day of using them. For a moderate to severe overpronator, these are great!
I was looking for some shoes that I could take from the road to the trail. these work well for both. super comfortable and versatile. I'm glad that I bought 'em. great price, great shoe.
No need to break in. Just wear it after you receive it. Good looks and very comfortable. I use orthotics and this shoe fits me well with it inserted. Give it a try.
One word,...Sweet! their as comfortable as it gets. i have three pairs of shoes that cost over 100 bucks that aren't as comfortable as these. i've treked through swampy muck and muddy waters with no problems. if you plan on being outdoors in the spring, winter, and fall these are the shoes to get. they breathe so easily though that the only down side is cold feet in the winter, but that's the perk in the warmer temps. Enjoy
Light enough to race in (Stinson Beach 30K) and well made enough to last on long training runs on Mt. Diablo. I am very happy with these shoes which I got at the North Face Outlet in Berkeley. I'll be buying another pair from this site too.
well, pros: good support, very confortable cons: last a couple of months with very little use! the mesh on the front top was broken after 2 month! more...
