At just twenty dollars pricier than run-of-the-mill daypacks, it is well worth it. The black on black is great for those who want to be low-key. I've gone lots of places with it in the past year, hauled my camera and equipment, school supplies, some light-duty machinery, food, etc and taken it on several rough day hikes (20+ miles in pouring rain). padding is comfortable. has a large and small laptop sleeve which conveniently hold two full-size hydration packs, and the hoses route through the headphone port and tuck neatly through the shoulder straps. Other backpacks I have owned to date (jansport, north face borealis, swissgear) would have fallen apart by now, but this one is built sturdy and keeps up well with the abuse. It is easy to clean thanks to the waterproof base camp material.
I Will Break You....
I have never owned a day pack that I had to break in.....Until now. This material is impressively rugged and laughs at water. If you get caught in the rain just meet the zippers on the lower sides and you are pretty much totally water proof. This thing has a good chin, get some.
I love this backpack, it's extremely tough, and it looks badass in black on black.
I've taken it up skiing a few times to resorts and in backcountry and it does great. Buy it now
How tough is this pack? Is the different...
How tough is this pack? Is the different material just aesthetic? Or is the Base Camp Hot Shot an improvement over the standard Hot Shot?
The base camp material is awesome. I have the base camp messenger and I'm really happy with it. Water proof, put it through years of school and travel and the only part that is a little worn out is the velcrow.
I will follow up. The material IS different than the Base Camp Duffel material. It is still solid but the entire pack is NOT made of it. Of all of my backpacks (North Face Base Camp Hot Shot, TNF Surge, and GORUCK GR1), I tend to grab TNF Base Camp Hot Shot more often than any other.
