Baetis 20 Sleeping Bag: 15 Degree Down

The North Face made the Baetis 20 Sleeping Bag with warm down and a roomy cut, which means you can stay warm spring, summer, and fall, without the usual mummy-bag claustrophobia. This 15-degree bag uses 600-fill goose down and trapezoidal baffle construction to warm your body and help prevent cold spots. Plenty of space in the vaulted footbox lets you turn over without twisting the entire bag, and included nylon stuff sacks make packing easy after a peaceful night’s rest.

Bottom Line: Roomy.

Comfort!

The Baetis is a great sleeping bag! The semi-mummy shape allows you to move your legs around without winding everything up around your waist. The zipper is shrouded on the inside with heavier nylon so the zipper doesn't snag - brilliant!

It has a nice warmth shield across the front on the inside to trap warm air inside the bag. It comes with a great storage bag AND a heavy-duty compression sack.

Two bags zip together if you buy a Left-hand zip and a Right-hand zip. Sleeping pad loops, too. There's no down-side to this bag. It's light, attractive and comfortable. No longer are you sleeping in Saran-wrap.

Can you tell me the main differences between the North Face Blue

Can you tell me the main differences between the North Face Blue Kazoo, the Chrysalis, and the Baetis sleeping bags? I am especially interested in zipper length and loft differences. Thank you.

Well, no one has chimed in yet. In looking at the three bags on TNF's website (and having a Cat's Meow myself) the specs have the Baetis slightly narrower in the shoulders but wider in the hips and foot area and it is 1oz heavier. The Kazoo and Chrysalis have identical size and weight specs and all three have the same size stuff sack. The $40 difference between the Kazoo and the Chrysalis seems to be a few bells and whistles in the construction of the Kazoo, including ground level seams, some small patches of Climashield insulation on pressure points, a watch pocket, some more technical construction of the hood. Zipper length on the Kazoo and Chrysalis will most likely be the same going down to about calf height, the Baetis looks like it goes a bit further down perhaps (given it looks less technical this may make sense). Hope that helps if you're somehow still undecided.

This bag has everything I want: poofy and warm, compacts into a tiny space, and (bonus) has a little pocket build in to keep key items warm and close to you (my contact lens case for example).

Good Performer

I purchased the Baetis for my 6 year old son. This bag kept him nice and cozy for several nights in temps around 20 degrees. This bag is very compact and easy to stuff. Perfect 3-season bag at a great value.
