It’s absolutely dumping out, and it’s lung-freezingly cold. You’d like a waterproof guarantee on your ski jacket, plus some ultra-warm down thrown in the mix. Try The North Face Women’s Auxiliary Down Jacket.

  • Waterproof breathable Gore-Tex 2L Performance Shell blocks wetness
  • 600-Fill down boosts warmth without the heavy lead-blanket feeling
  • Underarm vents dump excess heat
  • Gore-Tex Comfort Mapping uses heat-bonded fabrics instead of stitched fabrics for a super-streamlined cut and fit
  • Powder skirt prevents snow invasions and snaps out of the way for sledding adventures
  • RECCO receiver may aid ski patrol in the event of an inbounds slide

Bottom Line: Seriously dry, seriously warm.

Talk shop with all the gear freaks out there: ask 'em questions, upload/browse photos, and give your 2¢.

Warm, warm, warm!!!

By:

My girlfriend gets cold really easily because of a vascular problem she has, so I decided to get her this jacket. We have no regrets at all, as we skiied for a week without any dramas. Yes, it's true that there is only one Napoleon pocket and the color is charcoal, but it makes up by being super warm and being really aesthetic (it accentuates the wrist and hips). Highly recommended!

Not sure which size you needed or what your weight limit for a jacket is but a size small measures 61.595 CM and weighs 1.08 KG.

Checking on sizing. Is this more of a fitted jacket? I like

Checking on sizing. Is this more of a fitted jacket? I like to layer, even though I know this is a really warm jacket. I notice that TNF shoulders tend to be a little narrower and so I need a medium even though I usually take a small. How does this jacket run?

I haven't heard any recent comments on TNF snowsports jackets running narrow in the shoulders, so I would stick with the small if that is what you usually go with. This jacket is more of fitted cut, but I think you will still have room for layers if you do with other size small jackets.
Hope this helps -

This posting has to be TNFs as you see Kim here in the jacket that matches the picture as its advertised (note the extra pockets), but it is not the jacket you will get in the mail. This posting is just an advertisement, total BS. Next time you read a post from Backcountry consider it may just be the vendor blowing smoke up your...

Amazing Resort Jacket

By: Backcountry.com Sponsored Athlete
October 2, 2009

This is an excellent resort jacket that withstands the cold and wind tremendously. I love the form and fit of this (excellent flattering female cut), as well as the functionality. It is very warm and has a fabulous protective, soft high zip collar that guards really well against wind/snow. The vibrant blue color really pops, and it has the added benefit of RECCO- The RECCO system consists of two parts: a reflector integrated into clothing, boots, helmets, and body protection worn by skiers and riders; and a detector used by organized rescue teams. Great components- zippers, pockets, cuffs, cut, and neck design are well placed and styled, along with a nice powder skirt liner and insulater. Though warm, it moves well and is an agile jacket for the more agressive on piste skier and adventurer...it is too heavy for serious hiking or touring.
I am 5'8 with athletic build & typically a medium, and wear a medium in this jacket.

C'mon Backcountry, can't you spare us loyal customers from this TNF crap? This posting is a TNF advertisement, it is not some customers personal opinion. If you are going to allow this BS why should we bother reading any of these posts? I read these posts to gain insight to a product by my peers, not to be BS'd by some shameless crap that the vendor dreamt up. All I ask is that you be up front with us customers, just give us the disclaimer that these posts are fraught with vendor advertising and we will respond accordingly. Thanks Backcountry!

Hey Eric- sorry it took me so long to see this comment and respond.

So, the picture is of me, and is the Auxiliary jacket that I was sent in the mail by TNF. The photos were all taken by professsional photographers on the Telluride Ski area last year.
I wore this jacket most of last season and loved it. I have not seen this jacket in the store and so don't know if maybe the jacket was changed from the one that they sent me?
I am an athlete for The North Face and that is represented on my bio, but I only review the product that I truly like- 4 stars or better, so that it keeps the playing field level and so as to not mislead anyone in an analysis of a sponsor's product.
Hope that helps, and clarifies the fact that this is NOT an advertisement by The North Face. It is my responsibility as an athlete for Backcountry.com to review the gear that I use- this is a piece that I use and I got my photographer's permission to share the photos to help people.
Thanks,
Kim

I'm having a hard time figuring out what the jacket might

I'm having a hard time figuring out what the jacket might ACTUALLY look like when not on a computer screen. In the ad it looks like a much darker blue than in the pictures. Is it more pastel or more how it looks on the North Face website?? I DON'T want a pastel jacket.
Any info will help!

Not as Advertised

By:
December 1, 2009

I bought this jacket mostly based on online pictures available since I wasn't able to get my hands on it to try it on. It basically looked NOTHING like the pictures advertised by The North Face. As mentioned in the other review, 2 of the front pockets were not even on the jacket. The color, which looks vibrant online is really a flat blue with no pop at all. The pictures posted by Kim Havell are more accurate.

One thing about this jacket that ladies might not like at all is that it fits quite short. It almost gives no bum coverage. It is bulky and not very fitted. For such an insanely expensive jacket it was a huge disappointment.

If you like this jacket online, I would recommend the ladies TNF chicrock jacket in bomber blue. I bought that one and it is AWESOME and just what I was looking for.

charcoal not black

By:
April 19, 2010

FYI, the "black" jacket is more of a charcoal grey colour. Nice colour (in fact prefer it to black) but just a heads up! And as others have mentioned, it has only one front pocket. The arms, along with the sides and hood, are not lined with down but a fuzzy fleece, so not as warm as I was expecting. For the price (even on sale) imo it's not worth it. There are better options.

My Experience

By:
December 5, 2009

After looking forward to my jacket arriving I was extremely disappointed to see that it looked like a North Face copy. It was quite different to the one shown ie had only one zip to front and not displaying the correct North Face logos etc. I had to pay for return postage which I felt was unfair when it wasn't the item I had selected from the backcountry website. So altogether not a great experience however its a shame as I would rate the website ease of use as great.
