There aren’t a whole lot of signals firing in your brain when you wake up at high-altitude and no-o’clock in the morning. The North Face Women’s Atlas Triclimate Jacket makes your layering decisions for you. If you get hot once the sun comes up, remove the shell and just wear the fleece. If it’s wet and warm, pack the fleece away and keep the HyVent 2L shell on.
Waterproof HyVent 2L fabric and taped critical seams repel the wet
Removable hood reduces bulk when the sun comes out
Underarm vents dump excess heat as you hike
Midweight, removable fleece liner for insulation and around-town wear
Great color (red). The fit does run a little small. I usually wear a small but needed a medium. Love the pockets. Great for cold temps (1 degree this morning but nice and toasty in my North Face!). If you are looking for a good, quality cold weather jacket... this is it.

i was wondering how heavy this jacket is. I am looking for a jacket that will be comfortable, warm and waterproof, but not too heavy to go on a month hike on. Thanks
The jacket is very warm, but you can take out the liner. I think the liner is what makes the jacket so warm. I absolutely love the jacket! Hope that helps.
Tight in shoulders/armpits. Ordered a small (every other jacket I own is a small) and I returned it for a medium...made a WORLD of difference. And the fit everywhere else was still great, even with the larger size. My husband had the same exact issue with TNF's Men's Atlas Triclimate and exchanged for a size larger.
My daughter wanted a triclimate jacket for Christmas. She is in college and wanted a jacket that would work for winter cold and rain as she has plenty of both. She is thrilled with the warmth, fit and style of this jacket. The chili pepper red is cute too - red and a lighter red - not pink. Pink is not a favored color at my house, so all were happy with the red. She is 5 foot 5 and slim and the small fit perfectly. Great buy.
I got the Triclimate specifically for skiing. The weather was not terribly cold any of the days I went skiing (always between 25-30 degrees), and I was never cold. I wore thin clothing underneath - thin long underwear, and a turtleneck, and didn't need anything else. It worked perfectly for what I needed.
My daughter - a 20 year old college student wanted a North Face Triclimate but wasn't sure which one to get. We bought the Atlas from backcountry.com and we're all happy. Backcountry.com was easy ordering, helpful online service - including answering questions about all the jackets promptly and accurately, and the delivery was well before Christmas relieving my mind. My daughter loves the fit of the jacket -- and although she already has a NorthFace fleece - loves the fleece as a separate jacket as well. Some of the special features are the multiple interior pockets -- for cell, ipod, cash, debit card:) The zip vents under the arm will help when snowboarding and you can't remove the jacket while on the hill. All in all a great purchase!
The North Face Triclimate jackets, the liner can be zipped into the shell. This enables you to zip-up or remove both jackets with only using the outer zipper.
I have been looking at jackets - zip-in liner and outer shell for several months. The inner liner is extremely comfortable and soft. I've only used the outer shell once (not cold enough yet) but it worked well. The pockets are great. Easy access for cell phone, camera etc.
I like easy access to pockets, especially with a pack on - Colors are great! Worth the money!
psi is the way they measure waterproofness...25psi is pretty darn waterproof--unless you are in a sustained downpour for hours, this jacket will be perfect. Great for snowsports and everyday wear, which is what its designed for.
Does anyone know how this jacket compares to the Columbia Bugaboo parka in terms of warmth, fit and quality? I am having a hard time deciding between the two. Thanks for your time. I am looking for an everyday jacket in Missouri.
in terms of warmth, quality, and warranty, both are about the same. north face jackets tend to be more fashion forward, however, columbia has really upped there designs in the last few years. all in all, i dont think its worth the extra price for TNF over the Bugaboo.
Hi - It is one of the warmest linners that North Faces uses in it's Triclimate series of 3 in 1 jackets. The only one that would be significantly warmer would be The North Face Down Triclimate Jacket. If you find yourself getting cold a lot during the winter, I might suggest bumping up that model, otherwise I think you will find the Atlas to be a very warm jacket. Hope this helps-
Hi Caroline - they are going to pretty close in warmth, but I will give the slight edge to the Atlas - it has a slightly heavier fleece liner. The Boundary on the other hand gets the edge for comfort- the high loft super soft liner jacket is really comfortable. hope this helps
What's the difference between this one and the Greta Triclimate? Is this one warmer? I do a lot of snowshoeing and backcountry with some wind in mountains of Utah/Montana. I do get cold and layer. It looks like it is more fitted. Also what color is the fleece liner - Charcoal or black?
Hi - The shell material is nicer on the Atlas, and the other big difference between the liners is that the Atlas has a 200 weight fleece liner while the Greta has a much lighter 100 weight liner. It sounds to me like the Atlas would be the better choice for your climate. It has a black liner jacket. Hope this helps
Great color (red). The fit does run a little small. I usually wear a small but needed a medium. Love the pockets. Great for cold temps (1 degree this morning more...
