Description

Your winter jacket doesn’t have to be as heavy as the heavens to help you stay warm and dry.

Whether you’re post-holing up a ridge or sledding with the kids, The North Face designed the Men’s Atlas Triclimate Jacket to protect you from the elements without bogging you down. This Flight Series jacket’s shell features HyVent waterproof breathable material and taped seams to help you stay dry inside and out, even when you exert. Wear the shell and midweight fleece liner on cold, wet days, and wear the shell alone when temps climb but a storm is in the forecast.

I bought two of these, one for myself and one for my brother, for Christmas and tried to use them as much as possible. For a 3-in-1, the jacket works great! Its warm, comfortable and fits well (I'm 6'3, 225 and an XL fit me). The only downside to the combo is that sometimes it does feel abit bulky. As an outer shell, it performs well on cooler days where a shell is needed in case of rain. The fleece is VERY multi-functional and I probably wear that more than I do anything else. The biggest flaw, however, is the fleece. Within 2 days, the button that holds the fleece in the shell broke on a sleeve. And before that, the "black" fleece that I had ordered came as a weird brown/gray/black color. The easiest way to describe it is this - It looked like it had been washed about 50 times and had faded to a blended color. If you need it for snow activities or to mill around town on a cold winter day, its a solid piece, just be wary of the colors

I'm moving to vermont next year and I have almost no winter clothing so I'm trying to figure out what's the smartest thing to buy. Would a three-in-one like this be the best or should I just get a nice technical shell and layer? I'm trying to find the most efficient way of doing this so any advice would be helpful. Just for a reference the other jacket that i'm strongly considering is the stoic bombshell insulated

I had 3 in 1's for years, not realizing what I was missing. I would try to find a good shell and just layer underneath. The 3 in 1s tend to be bulky and can be a major pain to get on/off without the sleeves bunching up. Find a good waterproof shell and you won't be sorry. You can use it in the spring/summer for a rain jacket or winter for skiing/hiking/everyday use.

Solid construction and looks makes this a good choice for both town and country. The light weight shell is great on bike rides when the wind turns chilly or the weather gets nasty. The fleece liner is great for cool evenings, and the multiple attachment points makes sure it stays put when used with the shell. So wether I am riding, around town, or sitting on the cliffs watching the whales migrate; The North Face Triclimate is like brining a closet full of jackets along for the ride.

Don't understand why this coat has any negative reviews. Fits very well, warm, versatile, and is an overall good jacket/coat. Perfect for cold days. I am very hard to please, but very happy with this purchase.

Love this jacket and it fit me perfect. I returned it because Backcountry couldn't adjust the price which is $40 less than what I paid few days ago, because "we dont have your size in stock" they said.

What are the cleaning instructions? Is this washable or does it have to be dry cleaned?

Hey,

The liner and the shell will have different care instructions. Dry cleaning will not be necessary for either. Just be sure to do what each jacket instructs.

I live in the Seattle area. I've worn the coat for skiing and on a few sub-freezing days hiking for a few hours at a time. It's comfortable, warm and moves well with me for skiing. I've also worn just the fleece liner, which makes a great jacket on its own.

I'm planning on wearing the shell as a raincoat by itself once the weather warms up a bit.

Derek, you probably already have an answer to this, but I believe that BC can ship The North Face to Taiwan. For the fee, your best bet will be to initiate a live chat with a BC rep using the link at the top of the page. Best of luck!

Got this coat for Christmas from my wife and I love it! It's a great winter coat- I wore it walking around the very cold and windy city of Chicago and never felt chilled once. Very light weight but warm- perfect! 5 Stars

Always wear COLUMBIA jacket, since bought a THE NORTH FACE jacket, completely like it. I wore it biking in the rain, it is waterproof, external temperature 2 degrees in the case of the liner, it made me feel very warm, even more surprised to find, I use the COLUMBIA heat reflective down liner assembly on this jacket, the zipper is an exact match of the! This jacket is worthy of recommendation. Thanks to BACKCOUNTRY.

first i ordered the 2x and it was a little tight in my shoulders , so i opted for the 3x which was tough to get they dont stock many in that size. once i received the 3x the fit was much better, its decently warm for the cold NYC winter days , works well against the wind just wish it had a little thicker fleece inside. also the front pockets are not very warm but ok . overall tho happy with the purchase would get another one.

Backcountry cannot deliver The North Face to Europe, unfortunately. Their International shipping policy can be found in the FAQ at the bottom of the page. Best of luck!

Try checking the size of a jacket he has in the closet that he often wears. Then base your decision on how good it fits him. Also keep in mind how he likes his jackets, loose or just right. If its loose go up one size. If its just right buy the same size as the rest of his jackets.
