Description

Versatile protection from fall to spring.

The North Face Men's Atlas Triclimate Jacket provides three-season versatility that you'll appreciate whether you're skiing in winter or hiking in the shoulder seasons. The HyVent shell provides durable waterproofing for the ski resort, and it's still breathable for rainy hikes in the summer (making this a four-season jacket, really). The removable fleece liner offers midweight warmth that feels perfect on bluebird days or brisk nights around a campfire.

The Atlas Triclimate also features an adjustable hood that you can remove for the sunny days. Zip-in-compatibility lets you attach other jackets by The North Face for enhanced coverage. The cuffs and hem are adjustable to seal out cold drafts, and the zippered chest pocket has an audio outlet for your headphones.

  • HyVent waterproofing
  • Removable fleece liner
  • Removable and adjustable hood
  • Adjustable hem and cuffs
  • Zippered hand pockets on both jackets
  • Media-compatible chest pocket
  • Zip-in-compatible shells from The North Face

He Loves it!

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
  • Fit: True to size

I bought this for my boyfriend for Christmas and he absolutely LOVES it! He especially appreciates the sleeve length as he is 6'3" and with that comes longer arms and the XL fit perfect. It's a must for those of you tall guys out there!

Initial Thoughts

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: True to size

I was on the line about sizing when ordering this jacket. I am 5'10", 175 lbs and have a 41.5" chest. I initially ordered a size large, but then after some more thought, changed the order to a medium. Once it arrived and I tried it on, I wished I would have stuck with the large. The torso fit great, throughout the chest was fine, although, just under the arm pits was a little tight when lifting my arms out. However, I actually like the fit around my body. The sleeves were a bit too short though. With my arms hanging down by my side, it was fine, but when I reached out/up, the slid down my forearm a few inches. This was a bit bothersome, and in the end, I had to send it back and purchase a size large, after all... So, now I am waiting on it to show up and give it a try.

The jacket itself seemed fine. The pockets were a little shallower than I had imagined, and the lining in the pockets weren't as soft as I had hoped (I usually have pretty dry hands though since I am required to wash them quite a few times a day pretty intensively - this makes them kind of stick to the inside of the pockets a little.) The collar is kind of stiff to the point that I couldn't really lower my head to look down when it was zipped all the way up (and to be fair, this may be alleviated with the next size up to some degree.) I didn't separate the jackets, but I did notice that the trim on the inside of the fleece inner next to the main zip looked kind of rough... not as finished as I thought it should for a $240 jacket.

Despite all of this though, I reordered the exact same jacket, in the same color, but just a size bigger. I owned a Triclimate Hero jacket several years back, and really enjoyed it for around home/town use, and because of this, I decided to order this one now. I think I will be happy with it overall... but I shall see.
