Is this a good ski jacket to be worn as an outer piece? I don't want bulk but I want warmth and decent water repellency. Seems pricey if it's only a layering piece as it is described here.

You can definitely wear it as an outer piece. I have been skiing on some pretty chilly days and only had a fleece underneath and I stayed warm. I didn't want all the bulk either and this jacket is perfect for not having the bulk.

This jacket is great! It's super warm, I have worn it skiing and hiking on super windy days with just a fleece under the jacket. It fits me great, I have long arms and the sleeve length is perfect. It does have a different design to it that you cant really see in the picture, but I thought it was pretty cool...very stylish!

I have long arms but am a size 6 -- do you think the medium will fit? some northface jackets the mediums have short arm length.

This coat actually has a very interesting textured pattern in the fabric. There should be a zoomed view for it.
I just ordered it, but realized I wanted a different jacket.
