run small/tight

I am a size 2. I read the other reviews (that say the shorts seem to run small and are tight) and ordered these in a 2 and a 4, hoping one would be perfect. Well, I can't even get the size 2 buttoned and the size 4 is wearable, but not the most comfortable board shorts in the world. They are a tad tight and do not stretch. I am keeping the 4 to wear over my bathing suit, but will definitely return the 2.
Could use some alterations.

Very durable, but a little snug fitting with not much stretch. The snap buttons in front pop open if you're bending over.

These shorts are really cute, but the sizing is a bit off. I have a ton of North Face gear and I wear a size m (6-8), so I ordered a size 8 to be on the safe side, and they're pretty tight and definitely not shorts that I could be active in (at least comfortably). I guess I'm just use to my running/sports shorts being stretchy and flexible, and these definitely are not.
Change me.
