The North Face constructed the Men's Apex Relativity Jacket with breathable, water-resistant Apex Universal material for excellent comfort on the trails or in the mountains. The Apex Relativity softshell's light Heatseeker insulation adds enough warmth to keep you from feeling the freeze on frosty days, without making you to overheat on nicer afternoons. The North Face softshell jacket helps block cold wind on hikes, climbs, backpacking trips, and ski adventures.

Bottom Line: Stay warm and move comfortably with The North Face Apex Relativity softshell jacket.

Sleek and Warm

By:

When looking for a winter jacket, two things are most important to me: first style, second comfort. The Apex Relativity gives me both. It looks great and couldn't be warmer. I wear mine as my main winter coat up here in Minnesota. I actually ride my bike around in it and I never feel the cold, even on the bad days. It gives you the comfort of a bigger, bulkier jacket, but with a much sleeker look.

Apex Relativity review

I've owned this jacket for 1 month now and love it. Xmas time in NYC and the cold & wind are picking up. This lightweight jacket is warm enough to stroll around in yet breaths enough to sit on the train for an hour without removing. It also doesn’t bunch up when sitting down like the big down’s (excellent for trains & cars).
The exterior is a soft yet rough/tough skin that is basically waterproof unless standing in the rain for extended time.
Pockets are very warm due to their cloth inners and not having the very outside shell touching your outer hands.
The only jacket I found that can be worn outside in the woods or Monday morning to the office. I wear button down shirts and khakis to work and this jacket goes well. Unless you're wearing a suit, this jacket will fit any occasion.
It is THE jacket for the athletic/professional.

I havent gotten a chance to try it yet but this jacket also fits comfortably under my Hooded outter shell.

Good overall value.

This jacket was exactly what I was looking for. It is lightweight, but keeps you nice and warm into the 25 degree range. With a fewer layers underneath, it is probably good to temperatures lower than that. I like the fit of this jacket, it is not as tight as some of the North Face jackets I have tried...so wearing a hoody underneath is no problem. I also love the multiple pockets. I was never able to figure out what CFM meant when North Face rates their jackets, but if CFM means what temperature this jacket is good for, I would say its good to 25 degrees.

Great Jacket

By:

I bought this jacket as an alternative to the Nuptse (too warm) I din't expect it to keep me warm at -16 celsius. I'm in Northern British Columbia where right now it is in fact -17 centigrade. With only a T-shirt on underneath I'm toasty warm. Very lightweight and wind resistant. Highly recommended.

Slight Problems

By:
November 12, 2007

In terms of the jacket itself, as an insulator, it is fantastic. Like the other reviewer said, it probably is worth it to get the Thermal version. The problem i encountered with my jacket was that the stitching along the ends of the sleeves and the bottom hem of the jacket started to fall apart. In addition, for some reason, the North Face logo stitching started to fall apart too.

Other than those minor issues, the jacket is awesome in cold weather.
