Revving a cold engine isn't good for it, and working out with cold muscles is just as bad. When you're hitting the trails on a chilly spring or summer morning, zip up the North Face Women's Apex Pneumatic Jacket for that touch of warmth and windblocking to get your moving parts started up smoothly. The Apex Pneumatic Jacket is a lightweight softshell, offering all the four-way stretch and breathability your mobile muscles could desire. It's exactly what I was looking for!

By:
November 6, 2009

I've been looking for a jacket like this that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. I live in Michigan - where it is windy and cold most of the year. I got this jacket as my spring/fall coat cause my winter coats were too much and I needed something lighter to wear over my long sleeved shirts and sweaters that wasn't too bulky. It cuts the wind and keeps me dry - it's not water proof but is resistent for those drizzly days. It's the only The North Face article that I have currently but I'm keeping my eye on others. I think that it runs true to size - I'm 6'0" and 185lbs and a Large fits me well.

I got this jacket today in the mail and was a little bit surprised by the length and width of the jacket. The length is short. I am 5'4". The jacket fits funny on me. The top portion of the jacket is very loose whereas the bottom of the jacket seems kind of tapered down. If you have hips, this jacket will be snug at the bottom of the seam. I ordered a large, which is usually my size. But with this jacket I should have gone a size up.

Great jacket!

By:

I've purchased two of these jackets so far and love them both. They're lightweight, and breathe well, perfect for activity in cooler weather . The fabric is fairly stretchy and moves well.
I'm 5'4 and felt the length is perfect. The small seems on the generous side, as I'm not that small (36-27-37) and it fits perfectly.

I'm 6'0" and this jacket is a big winner for me!!! Perfect in length, fits like a glove and my husband loves it on me. The price really can't be beat. I'm buying another today (already got the alba green- AWESOME color) because it's just that great. Keeps me warm (and is pretty waterproof) in the 40*ish weather. Great for hiking, running or just to wear out and about.

The only jacket that comes to mind that hits all of your requirements would be the North Face Denali Fleece. Can't go wrong and it's hands down the best out there for your dollar.

I was very pleased with the fit and durability of this jacket for the price! It's surprisingly warm and wind resistant for a lighter coat. No complaints!

Love this jacket. Based on the reviews I ordered a size Large. I am about 5'9" and a size 6 or so. It may be just a tad big but very warm and comfortable and plenty long. Overall am very happy with it.

I always want a north face softshell jacket and this is definitely a great buy!!

I am 5'9" and a medium fits right for me. Some customers said it runs short but I don't think that is the case.

light yet warm, i bring it with me all the time :)

The bionic is a thicker jacket. I just bought the pneumatic. They look very similar, but the pneumatic is much thinner and lighter. Great for a spring jacket or layering under a shell. They both seem as flexible to me. I do think the bionic has more water resistance and a thicker fleece backer as it is a thicker jacket overall. Hope that helps.

Great jacket!

By:
April 13, 2009

I really enjoy my new jacket. I was a little concerned about length, having read the other reviews, but it falls at the top of my hips and fits great (I'm 5'5"). Arm length is great and I frequently have trouble with sleeves being too short.
I've worn it running on cool, windy days, and it's perfect. I've also worn it over a polartec to my son's soccer games and it's great to layer (one size larger than my polartec).
I would highly recommend this jacket.

Great for light jacket

By:
April 20, 2009

Been wearing the jacket for a few weeks. At first I thought it was on the snug side in the hips, but now I love it. It's a light jacket good for 40F and up - not for cold, windy days. Lots of stretch. Nice form.

This jacket rules...Back Country Rules 4 having them!

By:
April 20, 2009

I bought this jacket for my daughter, who wanted a North-Face jacket because she liked the style and everyone has one and I wanted one because of the comfort. So I looked around found Back Country and the price could not be better! The jacket is beautiful, the fit is perfect and quite roomy but true to size, so know my Mom has become a fan of Back Country and North-Face "I ordered her one" This jacket is weatherproof, windproof and keeps you warm even when it's cold, if it's extremely cold wear with hoodie or sweater also you can adjust it around the waste to perfection. In the Summer don't wear unless cool or rainy...This jacket is the best, and the price was even better..."Thanks Back Country" and believe you me I'll be back!!

It's OK , but....

By:
April 23, 2009

I think the Apex Bionic is a better jacket. I like the feel of the fabric, the cut, and the sleeve cuffs better on the bionic-- so I returned this. Also, the brown color jacket has the logo in BRIGHT white, and I would prefer that to blend with the fabric, as it does on other jackets. Size was true.

Flattering Fleece!

By:
March 20, 2009

I have a hard time finding fitted jackets/fleece that fit properly because I am big-chested. Not anymore...this fleece fit perfect! I am 5'8" /155 lbs/size 8/athletic build and the ladies size L fit perfect! Arm and waist length are perfect...not too long, not too short. Plus at this sale price, I totally recommend this high quality product.

the apex has a fleece lining the pneumatic does not.. other than that they are exactly the same. the fleece will keep you warmer but the poly/spandex will breath a little more.. just depends on your use. For running or a cardio activity i think the pnuematic works better. for walking or hiking or something not as cardio intense the fleece will help with the warmth
