For cold, active winter pursuits, The North Face Men’s Apex Bionic Triclimate Jacket combines a stretchy, protective softshell with the insulating properties of a puffy jacket. This three-in-one jacket lets you use either the full y windproof softshell or synthetic-insulated layer alone in fitting conditions, and they both connect for a warm, weather-resistant system. A fleece backer on the shell adds warmth when worn alone.

Bottom Line: Versatile protection for cold winter adventure.

I very much like this jacket. One problem with many Triclimate jackets is that the liners tend to be much smaller than the shell (particularly the sleeve length), but this jacket fits perfect: shell, liner, and both together. I'm 6'0", 165lbs, 31 waist, and the medium fits great.

The shell is very warm and is completely windproof, making it versatile for chillier days and warmer winter days (the shell's fleecebacker is a nice touch). The Heatseeker insulation is super warm and when combined with the shell, makes for a very good winter jacket. The shell is tough and the water repelling is good, but not as good as Windstopper material.

My biggest problem with this jacket is the "zip-in" compatibility, because it's actually snap-in. I was aware of this when I ordered it, but was surprised to find out it was only a 3-point system (neck and both wrists), which makes the jacket saggy when it's unzipped or off. Previously owning a true zip-in Triclimate may have made it impossible for me to accept this system, because it's basically like wearing 2 separate jackets, even when they're integrated.

That being said, I would recommend this jacket to anyone who wouldn't mind the 3-point, snap-in system. Some may even prefer it if they like to shed layers faster.

Great Jacket

Bought this jacket for my sons for Christmas and they loved it so much I got one for myself. Although it is only a three point snap in system and not zip together this works very well for us. We have found that you do not need both pieces together very often in Nebraska and stay quite warm with the seperate jackets. Works very well for layering when you are going to be in and out of the weather and both jackets look very nice separetely. Very very warm and looks great.

Great all-around jacket!!!!

I love the jacket. It has a more lean feeling that the typical fleece lined jackets. I have only been using the outer shell so far which has gotten me through some 30 degree Fahrenheit days. It has been more than enough so far and I expect it to be very warm when it gets much colder out. The down liner is very warm and I haven't really needed to use it. I tried it one day and it was way too much so I yanked it out. If you are looking for a leaner yet very warm jacket I would strongly recommend it. It is not water proof but it does resist water very well. I spent nearly an hour in the pouring rain with it and the shell was wet but I did not get too wet considering the conditions. Enjoy!

TNF Apex Bionic Triclimate Jacket

I bought this jacket for my husband. His only complaint about the jacket is the lack of Zip-in Compatibility. It only has the three snap ins. He never wears it together because of that. He always wears the liner and jacket seperate.

nice style.love the fabric of the shell.
great look, and get lots of compliments.
the liner is a lesser version of the tnf redpoint(which i love, and can use under the bionix shell).
nice all around >35 degree coat with a nice style.but under 30 degrees just isnt as warm as i expectd.i recommend it though, just not for the bitter cold.
