More versatile than any other softshell, The North Face makes the Women's Apex Bionic Jacket with a soft-brushed fleece lining to provide just the right amount of insulation for a cold hike or winter ski tour. Four-way stretch, Apex Weatherblock fabric moves with your body, so you can climb comfortably, and the Apex is water-resistant enough to keep you dry in light rain or snow. When you really work hard to get some miles under your feet, the breathability of this jacket will absolutely amaze you. Protected from moisture on the inside and the outside, you'll never want to take off the Apex Bionic. *Please note: TNF outerwear tends to run a size larger than you might normally wear. Please consult the sizing chart to determine your proper TNF size.
Bottom Line: Run, hike, bike, ski, and relax at home in the Apex Bionic.
I just love this jacket. The water resistant material works fantastic for light rain... really, you do not feel the rain, wind or snow! And the color (Moonlight Ivory) was just what I wanted. For the reference, I am 5'2'' & 120lbs and the XS works great for me .... I always get lots of compliments with this one :)
This Apex Bionic is a must have if you live in any cold-weather climate. Very versatile and can be used in combination with other North Face layers if necessary. I love wearing it for an outer layer for cold-weather cycling, wearing it to and from the gym, and also as an inner layer on extremely cold ski days. The Apex is totally weatherproof. YOU WILL NOT FEEL THE WIND, RAIN OR SNOW. I own it in several colors and I walk the dogs in it on crisp nights as well. Versatility, comfort, style, warmth, flexibility, wildly popular... you cannot go wrong. If it is your first North Face piece you will surely be back for more. If you own dozens of pieces like I do, you will not be able to live without this anchor of your collection.
I must say that I've had the pleasure of seeing Lin at the gym on several accounts wearing her TNF collection....and she looks amazing in every single thing she wears. Love the color orange, and love it on her! I myself am not a proud owner of any North Face items, but seeing your stuff on Lin makes me want to buy some stuff right now!....Charge!!! : ) And by the way...love her detailed reviews and pics. How fun!
This is an excellent fleece! Totally windproof and excellent for rainy weather! The only downside is that it can be sort of stiff, but the fleece inside is comfortable. I am 5'5'' and about 115lbs with longer arms, and the small fits great. It would be nice if it had a drawstring in the bottom so I could make it fit better around the torso, but it still looks great. Perfect for wearing around campus as a college student...I can wear it in winter and stay warm, yet wear it in class and not overheat. I live in Wisconsin, and can get by wearing it in 30 degree weather, and even colder if I pair it with a sweatshirt underneath.

Normally XS fits me just fine, but this jacket just fit me weird. The sleeves were all bulky like I was a football player, and the length of it was a little too short for me (most things run long on me). I had to send it back, which is a bummer because I was really excited about this purchase.
I saw a North Face (I thought it was a venture jacket-in a silver or white color) that was on sale for $29.95, and I can't find it--I want to order one in small.
Excellent softshell fabric, we've got Igneous Purple colour (COOL!!!). Size is a bit larger than other jackets. So, one friend of mine usually wear size 10-12, Bionic size M makes pleats on the back and sleeves too long. Therefore you have to order size S. Torso is long as well. For lady it fits not so well, especially if the tops size is 10-12 and bottom size 12-14
I'm 5'1", 105lbs and I bought an XS. Although some reviews said that the jacket is short-waisted, I didn't think it would be a problem because I'm petite. The material of the jacket is great (I tested a sleeve under the faucet and water slid right off); however, the construction isn't right for my body type. It was big for a XS and quite boxy--not at all fitted like the picture shows. There was more than enough room for a tank and sweatshirt underneath. Also, the hem of the jacket reached my hips, but I prefer my jackets to hit about 2" lower than that; I can see the short length being a problem when snowboarding.
I'm returning this jacket because of the fit (which is such a shame), but I was very happy with backcountry's speedy shipping.
I purchased this jacket two years ago and have recieved comments where I would go. Recently my jacket was damaged at a neighborhood bonfire. I discovered this site and found this exact jacket and made the purchase once again. Where ever I go with my new purchase I still get comments. Its warm, great length and keeps the wind out, not to mention a flattering cut!
I have these jackets in various colors they are that great. I love how versatile and light weight it is I live in Seattle and the apex bionic is reliable enough even with ever changing weather conditons. I layer it with hoodie underneath for temps below 40's or when its pouring out. The fitting is ok xs fits me good (I'm 5'2 105 lbs) with enough room to layer. Warmer than pneumatic but pneumatic has better fitting for petite like me.
I'm 5'10" and the sleeves are WAY longer than normal northface. I got the medium, the sleeves are so long that i doubt they would fit anyone shorter than like 5'8". my friend has the same jacket with normal sized arms and the sleeves go all the way to the end of her palm.
I wear this jacket everywhere and can't imagine not having it now. You can't feel the wind a bit. The only minor flaws I notice is that it does rise up in the front (not sure why). The arms are nice and long, which is great for people (like my sister) who complain that they can never find jackets to sit at their wrists without riding up what you raise your arms or extend them. Also, the zipper goes all the way up and under the neck, which give you a nice snuggly feeling. Lining is soft and super, super lightweight. I would recommend again and again.
Great light weight jacket. I believe it is true to size. I read another review that said it ran small so with that I ordered a larger size than I normally would have and it was too big. I returned the first one I ordered and then ordered one in my normal size and it fits perfectly. The next test will be to try it in the snow!
I own one of these & I'd be heart broken if I ever lost it. It's my ALL TIME favorite jacket. So comfortable yet so warm when the wind is blowing. I live in it. They are very true to size! Follow the size measuring chart and you can't go wrong. I'm ordering my husband his first piece today.
I bought the pop pink apex bionic twice first was a medium, which was big then i ordered again this time I got a small as advised by your customer rep then I was supposed to return the medium, when the item got here it was the wrong item then I asked if I could have the right item delivered only to find out it was sold out. they told me they could refund my money but that is not what I want, when i ordered there are still 15 items of that size left. Is it possible then to get the small maybe someone got a small size and needed a medium pop pink? ...like a trade, I really like this jacket and its hard to get this color somewhere else
I purchased this jacket for my brothers fiance for a christmas present and she really likes it. She says it fits really well, definitely fits true to size. Says its comfortable and great to wear out casually.
I love this jacket. I got a medium, I'm 5'10 140 lbs and my arms are REALLY long. The sleeves on this jacked are the perfect length for me. Usually TNF sleeves stop at about my wrist bone, but these go almost all the way to the base of my thumb. If regular northface sleeves are longish/fit perfectly on you these sleeves will be WAY too long. It fits nicely in the shoulders and it is plenty long enough so that when you're sitting your back isn't exposed. The only thing i would change is to have it slightly more fitted in the waist, it is boxier than it looks in the picture.
As far as warmth it is far warmer than a fleece, completely stops the wind. Ive been wearing it to work every day and its been in the 50's-40's at night and ive been comfortable with just a long sleeve shirt underneath. I am dying for this jacket to have a cord at the bottom.
I forget what the color of mine is called, but it is a bright bright teal. It is probably the prettyiest color ive seen on a north face IMO. I have gotten tons of complements on it, especially about the color. It is actually brighter than it looks in the picture.
I highly recommend this jacket...it packs alot of warmth for very little bulk. Great for every day.
Hi Julie you can zip the Khumbu (Not the Bionic Jacket) into the following shells Mountain Light Jacket, Varius Guide Jacket and Perilune Jacket. Hope that helps!
I followed the advice in the description and bought an XS, a size smaller than I normally wear (S). It was way too small....especially the wrists, I could barely get my hands through them. Otherwise it was a nice jacket.
I ordered the jacket in xs Black on sale for 70.92 and was really excited to get it, but it was a huge disappointment. The cut of the jacket was REALLY weird, very short in front and long in back, not to mention extremely wide in the torso area and around the arms. The material was good, but the cut felt like it was made for someone with a very short and wide torso and very fat but long arms.
It's weird because my friend bought the Apex Bionic jacket from The North Face in a different color and the cut of her jacket was NOT like this at all.

I'm trying to figure out what color the Jacuzzi Blue is. Backcountry's picture makes it look like a pretty teal/turquoise. However, a Google search turned up a personal picture of someone wearing a "Jacuzzi Blue" jacket and it looked like a light blue (which I would not want). Which way does it lean? Thanks!
I'm 5'10" and 145 pounds and I bought the osito in a large. Although it is quite roomy, I bought it that way intentionally. I was thinking about buying a jacuzzi blue but i am confused on what size to buy. My chest is 35.5 in., my waist is 29in., and my hips are 37in. I am not as heavy as it seems, I am actually quite thin and athletic, and when i go cycling I would like to have a nice fitting jacket on me, but not to snug. Can anyone help me please? The 5 stars is what I hope it will be once I buy it! :)HELP ME PLEASE I WILL APPRECIATE YOUR HELP!!-Kaitlin
This is a great jacket that is waterproof and keeps the wind out. I like the stylish fit better than the fleece jackets, but I'd get a size larger than you normally would. I'm 5'2" and 125lbs and have a medium. It fits well under another coat or down vest, but don't plan on wearing too much heavy under it.
I totally agree. I am also 5'2" and 125 lbs. The medium fits me well. Yes the sleeves are a little long, but it fits in the shoulders where I often find that jackets are tight if I wear anything thicker than a light shirt. It also fits well under a shell or a vest. This is a great fall and spring jacket and will make a good winter sweater. Also perfect for cool summer nights in the mountains. I love this jacket. I wear it more than my leather jacket.
Love it! And the fit is pretty close to perfect! It is just barely a little tight in the armpits, but I'm sure that will be a good thing when I actually use it as a mid layer (currently I have just been wearing it as a jacket over regular clothes).
I just bought this jacket off of www.GearTrade.com from BackCountry, and it is amazing! I just got it today. It is in the low 30's upper 20's right now and I just wore it to the barn, on top of only a t-shirt and tank top. There is a breeze as well. With snow on the ground. I was toasty warm, it is so versatile I am still wearing it sitting in my hot room. It lets you stay cool inside and very insulated warm outside. Perfect jacket. Great fit, shows your figure! Perfect.
My husband has the men's version of this and he loves it which is why I bought mine! Love mine too! I have long arms and was worried about the arms being too short, but they are plenty long! Great jacket!
Loved the color so I tried to make it work for a long while-- and enjoyed having a TNF that stood out. The fleece lining was great so were the 3 zippered pockets. The sleeves were a good length but the cut was unflattering! The front is cropped much shorter than the back and kind of contributes to a potbelly look and made it awkward to wear as an outerlayer. Also was hopint it would be more wind and waterproof.
I'm in love with my new jacket! It definitely keeps me warm on chilly days! The Jacuzzi blue is great -- looks just like the pictures. It's a perfect fit -- true to size!
I was really excited to get this jacket. I followed the gear expert's advice to go by the sizing chart and got a medium--I'm 5'7 and 130. The only problem--I could wear this jacket 8 months pregnant. The sleeves and chest fit, the color is great, but I'm returning it because I'm just swimming in it. I doubt the small would fit right, just don't have the right body type for it I guess. Seems like a great jacket though.
This is my 2nd Bionic coat and love this one too!!! True to fit I just got Pop Pink it's fun and bright;) My other one is lime green and get complements all the time and the price is right so got another one! The cut is longer in the back which is nice! I got a"M" again to layer stuff under it! Rocks when spring skiing and romping around in the Mtns!
I normally get a size small, but from the other reviews, I figured that the jacket ran big and I should order down a size. So I go the XS, but the wrist cuffs are too tight and the jacket overall is a bit too short. This is surprising to me because I'm a tiny person (5'0" and 108 lb) with tiny wrists. I would say, order your regular size.
But the jacket was delivered two days after I ordered it -- super speedy. That was good.
This is a great jacket, light weight, not bulky great for wearing alone or with a vest for colder weather days. Blocks the wind and keeps me dry. You will not go wrong if you buy this jacket.

Great lightweight jacket for hiking. It's a little stiff, but kept me pretty warm in 40-50 degree weather. Also, great for keeping out the wind. I normally wear a small, but saw previous reviews so I went with the XS. It fit fine.
Got my sister an XS and after trying it on myself the jacket is HUGE! Thought I accidentally got the men's size. Too bad, the softshell looks awesome, but now its just sits in her closet.

Sorry about my misunderstanding on that...a momentary brain fade. The sizing specs from TNF on the Osito are the same as on the Apex Bionic. One of the reviewers on the Osito said it seemed to run a bit tight in the chest and sleeves, but since the size range in the chest on both jackets goes from 35.5-37, you should have a bit of room to spare, given your own measurements. The medium should fit you well. I also wanted to add- from a guy's perspective (whatever that's worth) the Jacuzzi Blue is a really striking color.
This isn't really an answer, but I couldn't put it anywhere else! Well, Phil, thank you very much for a response, but I don't know if you read where I said I bought an OSITO in a large and it was roomy. I would love to buy a Apex Bionic jacket but I really don't know what size to buy. If you meant I should buy a large and you knew I said OSITO then would you mind letting me know that is what you meant, please, I would really appreciate it!! Thank you, Kaitlin
This jacket is great for cold spring days on campus (I go to school Maine) or warmish days on the mountain. I wore it skiing at home in Colorado over spring break and this morning in the rain. It's warm but lightweight and very flattering. I am 5'2" and about 115 and the small fits perfectly. I got it in shoreline blue which is a great color.
This is definitely my favorite jacket! It will probably go hiking with me tomorrow.
I HAD TO RETURN MY WIFE'S JACKET, WRONG SIZE. I ORDERED THE CORRECT SIZE AND IT WAS PROCESSED EXTREMELY QUICK, EVEN THOUGH IT WAS DURING THE RUSH OF THE CHRISTMAS SEASON! THANKS FOR BEING AWESOME!!!!!!!!! CUSTOMER FOR LIFE!!!
I got this jacket a couple of days ago it came in really fast but when i got it the color was different than what i had go ti got the color aires blue and it looked more like a fadded blue and it was kinda short im 5"2 and 90 pounds and got XS but it was small o i had to send it in and get a small. But it is definatly what it says it is it works great and keeps you warm :)
I just got my jacket today and it is just what i wanted. I got a great price! Fast delivery! I am very pleased! I will order through Backcountry again.......
I think she was asking how to get out stains or that "dingy" look a white jacket is notorious for. I have great success with Oxyclean although I have never used it on a TNF jacket. I have 2 boys that have spilled cherry snowcone juice all down the front of a brand new white tee. Not to mention the grass stains and other types of daily grime. I soak them according to the directions on the container and then wash as usual. The only things it hasn't worked on is ink and mildew stains on my child hood Cabbage Patch doll! LOL (It did get out all the rest of the dirt and grime and her "skin" was back to it's original color). Hope this helps!
I just got my jacket and love it! I would purchase your regular size you would normally wear for a jacket. I do not think it should be sized up. I had fast shipping and a great price! Go for it!
I love to walk outside year-round. I live in a climate that can include just about any kind of weather. I like how light weight this coat is and how easy it is to move around in. It is definitely very warm and easy to layer if more warmth is needed.
Love love love this jacket! I bought one for my husband last year, and he has worn it all winter in Michigan - says it's the only jacket he ever needs in any kind of weather! So I bought myself one this winter and it is one of the nicest jackets I have ever owned! True to fit, it is warm without being bulky. And the price was definitely right! Thank you Back Country.
I've been wearing this all the time since moving from California into a more snowy climate :) It isn't as warm as I was hoping, but it keeps the rain off me and looks great. I needed it a size smaller than I would normally wear and the fit is perfect. One recommendation: although I love the white, it gets dirty VERY fast, but it does clean off easily!
I was wondering about the white...do you have the snow white or the white/white? I am interested in the snow white but I fear that it is going to be super bright!
The key difference between these 2 primarily wind-blocking jackets are the proprietary materiality of its fabrics. The Apex Bionic uses an in-house TNF wind-blocking Apex Climateblock material, while the Sentinel utilizes a Gore product - Gore Windstopper. These main purpose of these 2 fabrics are to function as a fusion of shell + fleece, reducing overall weight. Technically, Gores product is multi-layered as compared to TNFs dual layer Apex fabric - hence the cost differences.
The other visual difference is the fit - the Sentinel would have a better athletic look as it fits snugly.
These would be the 2 basic differences. Remember that wind-blocking does not equate to thermal insulation so in cold weather without winds you would still feel the chill, although both softshells offer a small degree of warmth. I personally have another TNF jacket with Apex Aerobic fabric, and in a windy 30 F coastal environment I felt cold in the arms.
The full comparison is made below, each property separated with a slash /. There are many similarities.
Apex Bionic / Sentinel
$129 / $229 (original prices - there is a $100 difference) Standard Fit / Performance Fit - more snug-fit TNF Apex Climateblock - a softshell / Gore Windstopper 3-layer softshell (both materials are polyester-based wind-blocking fabrics) 100% windproof / 100% windproof (both rated at 0 CFM : cubic feet per minute) water-resistant / water-resistant fleece interior / raschel fleece interior - more lush feel to it 2 hand pockets + napolean pocket / 2 hand pockets standard cuffs / elastic cuffs none / hem cinch-cord 25.75 inches / 26 inches (back length from centre) not specified / 22.8 ounces (weight)
The main difference between these two jackets is the Sentinel Jacket is a GoreTex wind stopper piece. This means it will repel elements more effectively then the Apex jacket, however it is also roughly $30 more expensive.
GREAT jacket, however, the length is too short. It fits perfectly at my waist but I prefer a longer length. I am 5' 1" and 115lbs and the xs fit perfect everywhere except the length. Great jacket but i'm returning it because of the length.
I recently bought this jacket. I own a 3 in 1 TNF jacket, but I wanted something a little closer cut. This jacket is perfect! I love the fit of it. I wear size S shirts, and I bought a S jacket and it fits great! I can wear a pullover underneath if I choose. I appreciate the longer tail in the back. Just a great versatile jacket, which is exactly what I need with the crazy Oklahoma weather!
Sleeves ARE really long. I'd prefer shorter sleeves, that makes the jacket easier to wear under another waterproof shell. I don't really like the fleece lining either. It makes it really hard to put on a polar fleece jacket underneath! It sticks and doesn't slide well. I'd also like bigger zipper pulls! Its hard to find them with a finger underneath layers. Forget gloves. Overall the jacket is good. I have not worn it alone yet. It has been butt cold here!
The North Face makes this EXACT same model (Apex Bionic) with a hood! I saw it in a local store today. I don't see it on backcountry.com, so you will have to search. I know REI carries it.
Hi Julie - Check out The North Face Paradigm Jacket for an insulated softshell option, or The North Face Habachi softshell for a more traditional hooded jacket. Hope this helps
This jacket is perfect! Great fabric and wonderful weight. It is wind proof and keeps me warm while walking the dogs at night. I ordered the vine green, which I get a lot of compliments on. I usually wear a L but ordered a XL so I could comfortably wear a sweater underneath. Perfect fit!
I originally bought a size small in pink fever and wasn't impressed. It felt too small and I didn't end up liking the color on me. I immediately shipped it back and ordered a new one in snow white, size M. I ordered it at 5:30 at night and the jacket shipped that night. I got it in less than 3 business days...so fast when it says it takes 7-14 business days. I was very impressed and now am very happy with my jacket. It looks very stilish and will go with anything!
I ordered one in a size small in the pink fever color. Many said to order a size smaller than what you usually wear and since I wear both a small or medium depending on the brand, I ordered a small. I was so excited to get it based on all the great reviews but I was not impressed. I did not like the color and it felt too short and too small. I have exchanged it for a size medium in snow white so we will see how that turns out. I recommend ordering the size you usually wear, especially if you are going to wear a lot of layers underneath!
got this as a gift for my girlfriend this past christmas... she loves it.... it does quite the job of accentuating her already hot body. points of liking for her is that its warm and flexible. she uses it in cloudy possibly light rain weather conditions. from my own inspection of the jacket... its very light for the warmth in provides.
I'm deciding between this and the apex bionic thermal jacket. I want something warm enough for new york city winter weather but breathable enough to also wear during fall and spring. should i get the regular apex bionic or the apex bionic thermal?
I'm living farther south in China and this winter it hasn't been very cold ºf 58-66, which in that temperature this jacket has kept me nice and warm. However, as a pretty warm person in general this did not work when it got down to the 40's. The issue I found with this jacket is it's not good at layering. And living where I am in Aisa..it's ALL about layering. I'm 5'3 and 135lbs and the medium fits great. However when I want to layer I have the most trouble with the sleeves all bulging out, which I thought was strange. However I do love it when it comes to biking around town. It really is wind proof and breathable and it moves great as I bike.
I suppose some other Con's for me is that the neck tends to stick up weirdly when I'm biking and the pockets are placed weird.
Over all it's a good jacket but not in the circumstances I need it for. It's working ok while I'm living here but as soon as I go back to america I'll be looking for a different jacket.
very easy to shop here! and quality gear! did buy a nf apex bionic jacket for the other half~ was too small and backcountry made it so easy to return/exchange the product
I ordered the ivory jacket, however the jacket was more a grayish color. I returned the jacket which was very easy to do and ordered the white jacket which is more like a winter white/ivory color and I love it! The Jacket is lightweight, however I am pretty warm in it. It fits true to size. I am now looking for gloves to wear with it.
She dislikes wearing a heavy coat to school; having to carry it around, etc. But, of course, in NH, we insist she wear a coat. This was a great compromise, as its warm but lightweight. She thought the longer back was strange at first, but after wearing it, really liked the wind not flying under. She is 5'4", about 160 pounds. Ordered the medium first, because I knew she wouldn't wear it if it was too loose. But it was too small, so I sent it back, and received the large and refund for the med right away. As someone mentioned, the customer service was great, even during the Christmas rush. The sleeves are a little long, but she likes that as she doesn't wear gloves. would definitely buy again.
While I love the fabric and thickness, I dislike the shape of this coat. The length is disappointing because it falls much shorter than I expected. Also, with a coat this thin, I was hoping it would be more fitting, but instead it creates a boxy shape. I am returning it in hopes I find something that looks better but still has this thickness.
The jacket is a great city jacket. As a gear-head and former outdoor store employee I have some issues with some of the tech parts: The zippers are small and flimsy for one. The version my wife purchased has a longer tail, which is good for keeping the back warm during windy days. This jackets should be used for mild weather and light rain. The XS fits like a S for my wife, long sleeves and long torso
I have been looking for a jacket to take with me to Argentina where I plan to go ice trekking in Patagonia. It's during the summer, but the winds may be blistering cold. Both the Venture Parka and Resolve Jacket fit awkward and offered no warmth, so I decided to try something a little different.
At first I was dismayed by the short cut of the Apex, but after having worn it out during a blizzard here in Omaha I am sold. It blocked the wind and the snow while keeping me warm. I do wish it was a little longer and the fit isn't perfect for me, but the technology behind the material is top notch. I'm sure this jacket will be perfect icy colds of trekking on the Perito Moreno glacier!
If you have a long torso, it will not fit. Like most north face jackets, this one has long arms, and short torso. A medium may be a little looser fit, and arms may be an inch too long, but I think you should go medium.
Fitted jackets from Northface are tailored for slender people with long arms, or for active people that need to reach up who don't want sleeves to run down. If you are looking for a more casual fit for average proportions, look at Mountain Hardwear jackets, same quality but better fit.
This jacket is wonderful! It's light weight and easy to move around in. When it's a little colder I usually use it to layer. It's great for any outdoor activity. The fit is great, it fits snug to your body...not too tight in shoulders. Overall, it's a great jacket!
I have a Khumbu that I wear everyday. I wanted another jacket like the one I have but not in fleece. This jacket was good except that it was shorter than Khumbu. And I didn't like the bright pink which is why I returned it.
I know that everyone seems to love this jacket...and I really tried. But I found it to run too large. I'm on the petite side, but not "skinny" - just normal-bodied for 5'3". I found this to be a little on the short side in the XS, but it was too big around the torso and waist. It gapped at the bottom and was not sleek and flattering in my opinion. Too bad, because I got a great price on it.
i like this jacket. i got the white. surprisingly it stays clean. the cut is feminine and i get compliments on it. keeps me warm, but just isn't thick enough or thin enough for the weather i encounter.
This is a great jacket with wind and rain resistance that lets me use it when my fleece just doesn't do the job. Originally ordered this in a small thinking based on the reviews that it would be big enough, but I returned it ordering a medium so I could wear a sweatshirt underneath in cooler weather (and for reference, I'm a normal sized woman- 5'6" and 130). I like the pockets, the wrist warmer lining, and the slightly longer back. Back Country could not have been more helpful and friendly and helped me return it with zero problems. I recommend both the jacket and the company. I'll be ordering from them again.
I am 5'4, 125 lbs. What size would you recommend? From reading the reviews, I am worried the sleeves will be too long if I order a medium. My sleeve length is approximately 29.5 or 30 from the center of my back.
I recommend that you order a small. I'm not a 100% what the sleeve length is, but The North Face products typically run a size larger than normal. I'm 5'7", 130 lbs and small normally fits me really well. Hope that helps.
I recently bought my second Apex Bionic North Face shoftshell because I love them so much. It is great for cold weather, and really keeps the wind out! I found a small to be a little short in length as I am 5'10" but the sleeves were plenty long enough. Great jacket
I love this jacket!! I was torn between this and the Denali, and I like this one so much better!! It's waterproof, and its thin, yet warm. It's really versatile; I can wear it from fall to spring in OK. I recommend getting a size larger, my medium is form fitting so I can't wear it over anything bulky. If I had gotten a large, I would have more room to wear thicker shirts.
I've bought several jackets, fleese, etc. and have never been as satisfied as I am with this jacket. I wore it golfing a few weeks back when it was about 45 degrees. I could swing easy with no constraints and also stayed warm enough to finish the round. I have no intension of climbing a mountain but will certainly where this jacket for all my other outdoor workouts and golf from fall to spring.
I wouldn't call the fit baggy on the Bionic, but if you are looking for true performance fit in a softshell jacket, I would check out The North Face Elixir Jacket. Trade offs are that the fabric is not fleece backed and laminated like the Bionic (less warm, not quite as wind/weather proof), benefits are that it has much more stretch and breathability if these are the characteristics that you are looking for.
I bought this jacket for a trip to Colorado in the summer. It was perfect. I am a small built female, 5'3 and got a small. It was a good fit. It isn't the most flattering jacket, it doesn't hug my curves but I think it is a nice fit. It isn't baggie or anything like that. Great material and construction. And it is a great deal.
I own several of these jackets in various colors and love them for layering! They fit true to size. The cut is more tapored - not baggy nor tight fitting. It goes perfectly over anything and is fashionable enough to throw on when going out casually. It's light weight, waterproof, and blocks the wind effectively.
I like this jacket a lot. I have longer arms and the seam length is perfect. Also, I purchased the white color and all my guy friends thought i was crazy, thinking i'd get it dirty in one go...wrong; it washes beautifully.
This is a great jacket - looks good and would be great for jogging or layering. Unfortunately, I ordered a medium (my normal size). It was too tight, too short, and the sleeves were too fitted as well. I would recommend ordering a size larger than you typically wear.
This jacket is great - it's warm and has a flattering fit, I like the longer sleeves, overall seems to fit true to size. I wear between a xs and s depending on brand and cut, and need an xs in this one. However, the front is too short for me. I have an average size torso but it fits right at my pants line and reveals my stomach if I even move my arms up a little, I prefer a little longer fit. Traded it in for a different brand with a longer fit.
Not only is this jacket warm, but it also protects against the rain and wind. I live in Rural Alaska and the weather here is very unreliable. I enjoy being outside a lot and this jacket is great because I dont have to worry about bringing a wind breaker, rain jacket and heavy winter coat with me everywhere. The rain beads up and rolls off with out soaking the inner warm layer. This jacket is unlike any other I have ever worn, and I have been a North Face Jacket Fan for over 10 years.
I absolutely love this jacket. I wear it by itself in cool weather and layer it in colder weather. It's the kind of jacket that you just can't go wrong with! It comes in many different colors, which I have almost all of!!!
