Good around town softshell

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

Above average quality and, good weather proof coating.

Just didnt like the shoulder design, wanted little more athletic fit.
I went with summit thermal with warmer and tighter fit

A Second TNF Apex Bionic

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I bought one in black last year and found it excellent. True to size. Didn't want it to get dirty and sweaty so bought this one for outdoor activities and exercise to keep the black one for casual wear.

Expectations Satisfied

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

I bought this jacket as a replacement of a 6 year old North Face soft shell. The previous jacket set the expectations bar high and so far this jacket has held up. Size was true to fit. Comfortable and everything I expected from a North Face

Great coat for Fall temperatures

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

I owned and lost an apex that I had for a few years. I have other TNF jackets, but none filled the void of a fall jacket, so I decided to purchase another Apex Bionic. The fit is true to size, but it is a little wide compared to my Patagonia jacket (I'm 5'10", 150 and picked up a medium, so even 'athletic cuts' are wide on me). I love how this doesn't feel heavy (like my triclimate apex shell) or bulky (like my denali), and how it keeps me warm even on a windy day (unlike my denali).

Best of Everything

I?ve had this jacket for about two years now and it?s hold up great, washing a lot now has taken away the real water proof texture a little, although this is a great jacket for every occasion. I use it whenever I am in hurry and when I am out fishing, hiking, or out in the snow. Here at Purdue this jacket seems to be the number one jacket. The size is right though me being a little short the sleeves are a tidbit longer for me.

Perfect Jacket

I needed a good cold weather jacket. I live in Houston so we don't get much cold, but in the 30s this jacket is perfect! Fit is spot on. I'm 205lbs and 6' tall. i ordered a large and it fits great.

Dad loves it!

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
  • Fit: True to size

I gave this to my father, who is a huge golf enthusiast, for Christmas. His review:

The North Face jacket is great!
-Flexible enough for winter golf
-Great wind breaker
-Warm
-Totally water proof
-Perfect fit

If you're golfing in the really cold, a vest underneath makes it good into the 30's.

I love it and I've worn it golfing several times already this year!

This jacket is the bomb! Used it in Istanbul in early February (was in the low 40s) was warm for for how thick it is. Also used it in Zagreb in February (was in the high 30s) when it was cold and rainy and kept me warm and dry. I recommend this jacket for a lighter weight jacket to keep you warm and dry. Buy it!

Great Quality

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs large

Top of the line jacket that fits well. Good price point as well. The only thing I would take a look at is the fit guide for this jacket, it may run large.

TNF Apex Bionic Jacket

This is one of the first "hiking" jacket that I purchased six years when I was getting into backpacking. This has now been retired to casual wear. The scary thing is that for a six year old jacket.....it still looks great. It is a surprisingly warm jacket for how thick it is. What helps with the warmth is the fact that it blocks the wind, and if it starts to sprinkle it will keep you dry. It is a great jacket, but a tad on the heavy side for someone backpacking/hiking. It does not pack small, but it does make an amazing around town jacket or a great piece for a day hike!

If only it was bulletproof...

I really like this jacket. I use it on dawn patrol hikes with a simple under armor layer and a fleece to keep it warm inside (usually 4 degrees out). It's very comfortable, very warm for minimalistic design. It is near waterproof, which is about all you need if you're hiking and skiing, other than in a downpour of course. I've skied in rain/sleet with this sucker on and it was fantastic; stayed dry inside without an issue. Breast zipper is also super convenient and a key item I really like. Inside lining of fleece is fantastic & comfy. Great as a standalone jacket on warmer days with wind, great as an outer shell on heavier & colder days. Honestly, its possibly the best jacket I've purchased in some time; and my poor ski jacket stays on the hangar now as I have no reason to use it any longer. It does run a teeny tiny bit large IMHO, at least comparative of other north face jackets. I usually use an XL but for this a Large was perfect.

Great Jacket

This jacket is definitely my go to jacket. It does a little of everything! It blocks out some of the wind, almost waterproof, and its warm. I live in PA and with this jacket you should be fine 35 degrees and up.
