Pack The North Face Women’s Apex Big Wall Pant for mountaineering, cold climbs, and spring ski tours. This water-resistant, wind-resistant softshell pant stretches four ways and breathes like a Bostonian at 12,000 feet (which is to say, a lot). Ankle zips with snap closures let you pull your cuffs over your boots, and a soft brushed waistband lining won’t dig into your skin under a harness.

Bottom Line: A mountain pant for the aerobically inclined.

Pants for all seasons

A versatile pant that works well for trekking, climbing, hiking, mountaineering, bc skiing and summer weather days. Extremely durable fabric that is water and wind resistant, with excellent stretch and breathability. Built with some room, I am 5'8 with an athletic build, typically a medium, and wear a size 6 in this pant- and that stills gives me some good room for layering & great freedom of movement. Love the solid snap waist and good pocket placements. Packs light and works great for a variety of outdoor activities.

Yes. 3 snap adjustability on the cuff allows room for ski boots. Tighter with alpine boots, perfect with tele/AT boots.

backcountry ski pant of choice

These feel like a sweatpant when you're wearing them; stretchy and comfortable and very easy to move in. They are my favorite pant for touring on sunny days, or snowshoeing, etc.

I got big thighs and might need to wear fleece pants underneath.

If you usually wear a 10, I would probably go with a 12 if you plan on layering occasionally.

They are so comfortable..stretchy,warm and long enough to fit over your boots. We romped in fresh powder all day and didn't even get wet.
You might need another layer underneath in "truly" cold weather. The only drawback it that the waist is really big. They do have a drawstring, however those are sometimes annoying!

Not warm enough for WIndy City

Bought these but am returning. Good pants - just not what I was looking for. Fit was good. I'm 5'10 & 165 lbs; the 10 L I bought fit very well. The pants are definitely straight-leg. I was going to use to run in the winter, but they'd have been a little wide around the ankle/calf for that. Mostly they just weren't heavy/ warm enough. I'm looking for pants that will keep me warm without too much layering in the 0 deg/ windy/icy/bitter cold midwest winter conditions. These would have been great for a sunny 20 deg day x-c skiing. Overall a good pant; just not heavyweight enough for windy IL 5am runs.
