Description

It changes with the weather.

The king of versatility, The North Face Triclimate three-in-one jacket, keeps you warm and sheltered from the elements with on-the-go wardrobe adjustments. The Anden Jacket is geared more toward cool weather, rather than severe winter cold. Because it's lightweight, it also works well for backcountry tours and other highly cardiovascular winter activities.

The North Face's Triclimate Jackets include an outer shell jacket and an inner liner jacket for insulation. The Anden features a waterproof breathable HyVent shell and a TKA 100 lightweight fleece liner jacket. The shell features a fixed, adjustable hood, two zippered hand pockets, and adjustable cuff tabs to lock out icy drafts and snow. The TKA (that's Totally kick Ass) 100-weight fleece jacket also has two zippered hand pockets and can be worn on its own as a light jacket.

  • Polyester shell with HyVent
  • TKA 100 lightweight fleece liner
  • Fixed, adjustable hood
  • Two hand pockets on shell
  • Two hand pockets on liner

Good Fit, Worth my Needs

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs large
  • Height: 6' 0"
    Weight: 265 lbs
    Size Purchased: xxL

I am surprised, as the fit is a bit larger than what expected. It will allow for more layering if needed on my trip on the PCT.

Is this zip in compatible with other North Face Products?

Responded on

Yes it is but, not all other North Face Products. Each piece is somewhat specific. http://www.thenorthface.com/en_US/shop-by/shop-by-benefit/zip-in-compatible-jackets/

Smooth Experience with Back Country

The North Face Anden Triclimate Jacket - Men's Black. We found this jacket for less at another site, but gave Back Country a chance based on reviews. We had to send the first one back because my son preferred black over red (which was really nice by the way). We had no problems at all with the return or any part of placing orders for the jackets. Customer service was friendly and helpful. My son is 5'10, weighs 110 and decided on the size Men's Medium. It's a good fit in the arm length and looks very nice on. It's versatile with changing weather. Overall would highly recommend Back Country and this particular jacket. We just survived the coldest February in Michigan history and it worked fine for driving to school, shoveling, and running around. Have not tried it for skiing or other outdoor activities, but it probably would be great with a sweater under it.

Thanks so much for giving us a chance and leaving a product review! We hope to see more of you : )

I have a question regarding this jacket. As I hail from Singapore (a small tiny country in South East Asia where it's summer all year round), i would like to inquire in what temperatures can this jacket sustain me? I am planning to head to the States real soon.

Responded on

Hey joe,
That's a very difficult question to answer; there is no definitive way in which clothing is rated to be comfortable to a certain temperature, as opposed to sleeping bags, for example.
The reason that manufacturers cannot specify temperature ratings for the outdoor gear that they produce is due to the fact that everyone's physiology and bodily response to the weather they are enduring is going to be utterly unique to that person alone. While you all may be feeling similarly with consideration to the conditions that you are surrounded by, you're going to be reacting, internally, in a different manner than someone else wearing the exact same clothing. However, fear not - there are a couple specs that you can always observe that will assist you in providing a moderate estimation of the temps that it may be suitable for, those being the construction of the jacket itself, as well as the weight and amount of insulation that the jacket in question has.
Accounting for the fact that this has 100g/m^2, you're looking at a relatively suitable amount of insulation for temperatures that will drop to the lower side of things (in this case, again depending on how you react to cold weather and how you layer underneath the jacket, you could be good down into the 'teens or lower 20s (Fahrenheit)).
Here are a few links that may help a bit more, since only so much can be fit into this response:

Price match

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

Hey I got a great price match for the anden jacket these guys at backcountry are awesome thank you for your help....

I'm 169 cm tall and 77 kg weight, which size should I choose, I don't want my jacket too big.

Responded on

What sort of build do you have? What is the measurement on your waist, your chest, and your center back length, just to zip off a few questions that would need to be answered before I could advise one way or the other.
Be honest about it: if you have a slight belly, don't be afraid to say so. If you are more of an athletic build, with wider shoulders and no "fluff" around the midriff to speak of, volunteer that information. I'd be glad to advise, but I need some information before I could direct you to the size that might be appropriate.

Hi, Really want to get one of those but was wondering if it could withstand the cold of Chicago in January (5 F) weather? if not, could anyone recommend jackets for that type of cold within this price range?thanks :)

Responded on

It honestly depends on how much you would be wearing underneath the jacket itself - if you're only trying to rock a t-shirt and this jacket in that weather, then no, it wouldn't be suitable at all. However, considering you all do get a lot of inclement weather that tends to be on the wetter side of things, I do commend you for looking into synthetic fibers. However, in terms of weight versus heat retention capability, down will give you more bang, but also generally comes with a slightly higher price tag, depending on a few factors. There are a number of manufacturers of late that produce a water-resistant down, but how well that performs, I cannot say as I haven't had the opportunity to purchase/use such a product. If you are wanting to go the synthetic insulation route, then I would advise finding jackets that have a higher g/m2 amount of insulation than this one does - 100g is generally suitable for quite a few outdoor activities, but that assertion is based off the assumption that your layering will be moderate and that you are engaging in activities that are keeping your blood flowing and your body active.
Hope this helps. If you are wanting some other recommendations, I can try to find the time to look into some options, or if you have a few others in mind that you're considering, the BC Gearhead team is always phenomenal and will be glad to lend a helping ear, as am I.
Sorry I couldn't be more help right off the bat.

My boyfriend absolutely love this jacket

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
  • Fit: True to size

Hi, I recently purchased this jacket for my boyfriend. He really loves it and get compliments on it. He is 6

Is this jacket warm enough by itself for everyday wear in Michigan winter? The temperatures range here from 40F to -10F with the average being around 20 F.
I'd like to find a winter jacket that's good for everyday wear (to classes, run errands, etc) in Michigan. If you have any other recommendations, please let me know. My budget is under $200

Responded on

I think with a sweater, you'd be fine. I'm assuming you're moving around (but not exercising)... rather than standing still outdoors for extended periods.

Is this thick/heavy enough to wear as a ski jacket?

Best Answer Responded on

This can be used as a ski jacket as long as where you are skiing isn't bitter cold, or as long as you are touring. Personally, in Utah I usually wear a baselayer and a shell on top otherwise I get too hot. The Anden has a lightweight fleece along with a weatherproof shell, although has no powder skirt so I would suggest using bib pants on deep days (again, depending on where you ski).

Brings me ABSOLUTE Confidence!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I am techy person and do think a lot before giving high score.
In 2014 Jan-Feb I faced extreme weather in New Jersey, probably extreme most in last 20 years. In such weather, HyVent gave me absolute confidence to go out without any hesitation.

In windy weather, outer layer did stop most wind/cold. So did inner layer protect me from low temperatures till 10F.
Its light weight, color and quality did give me confidence and bring up my morales while meeting new people.
Hence, all the stars.

Love the jacket! So warm and versatile..

3-jackets in ONE! It's light, not puffy, and keeps you very warm. The outer skin is waterproof; great for when it rains or keeping you dry after snowball fights. The inner layer can be worn anytime as it's ultra soft and stylish. I actually was undressed for a club and unzipped the inner layer from the main jacket to wear it over my t-shirt and looked fine. The jacket has plenty of pockets with the inner and outer layers. Great buy anywhere but especially at Backcountry.com; their customer service as you know is exceptional!

not fit well

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small

Got it for my husband, but the sleeves are too short for him. The price is good, but the lining is too thin. Kind of disappointed about the product.

Lovely

I bought this item for my dad(Grey color). He loves it. ALthough it felt light, it is truly warmer than any other jackets. If you want to buy a lightweight and warmer jacket, that it is.
