Description

Stay light on your feet and warm in your tent.

One of the nice things about summer camping is that you can carry a light, bulk-free sleeping bag. The Aleutian 2S 40-Degree Sleeping Bag is a perfect example of this theory at work. This just-over-two-pounder should easily get you through the summer season with some spare change left over at either end.
  • Rated down to 40° F, this bag is best suited for summer camping with occasional use during mild-weather shoulder-season trips
  • Heatseeker synthetic insulation traps warmth, compresses well, and keeps in your body's heat, even if it gets slightly wet
  • Overlapping shingle construction helps eliminate cold spots
  • Ripstop nylon shell stops tears from turning into big problems
  • Internal draft tube, mummy shape, and hood keep warmth next to your body
  • Vaulted footbed won't constrict your feet and helps promote circulation to your lower extremities
  • Zippered pocket keeps valuables safe and handy
  • Nylon stuff sack included

Does anyone know how this bag compares to the REI Lumen sleeping bag? On sale, the REI is about the same price as this one, so the only real difference I can see is that the North Face stuff sack size is a little bit smaller. Is one substantially better/worse than the other?

Took this bag on a 3 day backpack of the Otter Creek wilderness. Worked great, temps were ranging from middle 40's to mid 50's, and I never got chilly at all. Packs down and I still had room to spare in the bag compartment of my Deuter ACT lite pack for my stove. Great summer bag!

I'm 5'11" too, and I tested out the TNF Cat's meow in a regular. The length was just right, and I didn't find it too tight or cramped (I weigh about 160lbs).

This is a nice bag. Well built and comfortable. Packs small as well. First night using it it got down to 30 degrees. I used a base layer to sleep in to compensate for the temp difference and slept warm. Looking forward to using all summer! Don't forget the Exped pad either!

I just got the bag Wednesday, and used it Friday and Saturday for a weekend climbing trip. The weather sucked in WI, with rain (some of it freezing) and wind. Never ended up climbing, but this bag was my go to for a nap and night time. It's not too tight of a mummy cut, with some wiggle room, which is good for me because I move quite a bit at night. Used Thermarest Prolite sleeping pad to stay off the ground and the combination of the bag, the pad, and a light insulating layer of clothing and some wool socks kept me warm all through the 35 degree nights. I am a cold sleeper, so I didn't mind seeing my breath in the tent...and the bag did it's job. I say its a true 40 degree bag. It's pretty light for the price, compresses small--I fit it in a Sea-to-Summit eVent Compression Sac and used the size small which worked perfectly. I'm very happy with the bag after it's initial use, and definitely recommend for starters or broke college students like myself. The bag was tested in some nasty weather--cold and rainy--but I couldn't wait to crawl inside it the second night. Treat it right and it will last a while too. I got my money's worth.

Hey I just wanted to know if you think this is a good 90 degree texas bag, I use a 0 degree currently and sleep ontop of it. Reason I ask is I have the same tent, pad, and shoes! it would be my summer/ spring bag and texas springs are like everyone elses summers lol.
