Description

Toasty, but no marshmallow.

The low-profile The North Face Women's Aconcagua Jacket lets you enjoy the luxurious warmth of down without the usual bulk. The Aconcagua's nylon ripstop fabric and water-resistant finish resist minor flurries and sprinkles, while the 550-fill down keeps you cozy and warm. Zip-in compatibility and a sleek profile allow this puffy to be easily layered under your favorite shell. A brushed collar eliminates chafing, and a hem cinch cord seals out drafts.

Hi Lanie - A Small would fit you just fine. However, if you're planning to have a couple of layers underneath, you may prefer the fit of the Medium.

So far so good

Have not used the jacket in winter conditions yet, but loved the vest version (which I have in size small). I first ordered a small jacket, but returned it for a medium to allow for layering. Both fit fine and I would say true to size as I am normally a 4/6 in jackets when I don't have a bulkier layer underneath. The bottom of the medium is a little roomy, but the draw cord will compensate. Overall I'd say a stylish pick for town or country.

Purchased this for my teenage daughter. It was exactly what she wanted. Very stylish & very warm!

Nice jacket!

I have the vest and loved it, so I decided to order the jacket as well. I have not yet had a chance to use it but don't doubt I will be happy with the product. I ordered a small, which is a perfect fit as a jacket with a light layer underneath (I wear a 4 to 6 in jackets most times) but I decided to return the small and get a medium, if I want to layer then it gives me the room. A medium is definitely a little big, but roomy enough for layering under, the small felt too small with layers.

I normally wear a medium in tnf denali jacket...would it be the same with this jacket? Im 5'4" 145lbs.

Stacey,

I think a medium is going to fit you just fine. If you're ever unsure with a jacket, size up. Unless it's so baggy that it inhibits movement, a larger jacket is going to provide more coverage and give more layering options than one that is juuust barely too small.

Happy trails!

pretty...

I normally wear a medium but in this jacket I had to buy a large and even then it was too tight across the shoulders and too big everywhere else. The jacket was not as warm as I had hoped, yet was very bulky. The color was nice. I ended up returning it and upgrading to a medium Patagonia puffy, which fits me perfectly.

I love this jacket!

I got this jacket in radiant orange and it brings sunshine to those cold, dark and sometimes gloomy winter days. Its very comfortable, although the neck is a bit high collared. I wore this coat when it was -12 degrees outside and it was still the right amount of warmth. I'm definitely happy with my purchase, and every time I wear it I get multiple compliments. In my opinion the sizes run true to size as well.

Great Jacket.. but needs a few tweaks

I've had this jacket for a few years now and I really like it, but there are just a few things I would change about it.
1) I tried on a large and it was a little poofy, so I got a medium in white.. but it's tight around my hips.
2) I wish it had a hood. I lived in the snow country for 4 years, and hoods are vital.
3) I wish the sleeves weren't as poofy.

It really is a warm jacket and wore it all the time when I lived in Flagstaff and could layer it really easily, even though I could just wear a tshirt, cardigan, and this out and be fine. Now I live in San Francisco, and the white is a little bright! I ordered a TNF Triclimate, so I'm hoping it will work better here and retire my Aconcagua for just snow country.

Not Long enough

I'm 5'8" and 150#s. Unfortunately, a Medium was too short in the arms and body. The Large was way too poofy but was the better length in the arms and body. The sheen of the material was nice and looked attractive.

Hey J,

The The North Face Aconcagua Down Jacket is water-resistant not waterproof.

hope this helps

Responded on

No. It is however treated with a DWR (Durable Water Repellent) finish that will help shed snow/light precipitation.

Has anyone bought the orange color?? Do you like the orange jacket?

Best Answer Responded on

I saw the orange color at a local retailer and I thought it was very sharp. Be aware, it is a very bright color and may be too much for some people.

Responded on

Thank you...appreciate your help!

Got the orange for my 15 year old daughter and my 42 year old friend for their birthdays and they both LOVED the color! But they are both have very bold and creative personalities so it was perfect!

The Aconcagua strikes a nice balance between flattering your form + functioning in the elements. If only it were waterproof, too.

Hello, I live in NYC and I need a sweet coat that will be comfy/warm. Is this a good pick? I am 130lbs and 5'3

Its a great price I just don't want to be cold in Feb while I wait for a train.

Hi Meredith, 550 fill isn't the most insulating fill power, but that doesn't mean this won't be a pretty warm jacket. I would estimate this jacket to be warm enough to handle temps in the high teens, but below that, you're going to want a higher fill rating. The higher the fill number, the more efficient the fill is insulating. The North Face Nuptse Jacket is a similar price range with a 700 fill down, which will be warm to a much lower temp, but the fit isn't going to be as flattering as this, as generally, more warmth = more bulk.

TNF Aconcagua Down Jacket

Love this jacket! Fits true to size.. I normally wear a M in TNF. The only reason why I didn't give it 5 stars is I think the sleeves could be longer.
