Your girl’s ski jacket isn’t super-warm for walks downtown, and besides, the powder skirt and all fifty pockets get in the way. The North Face Girls’ Aconcagua Down Jacket has 550-fill down and a smooth taffeta lining without bulky pockets and slope-specific add-ons. The DWR finish deals with flurries, and front pockets come in handy when she forgets her gloves at home.
Compatible with The North Face zip-in and snap-in shells
My perpetually-cold 5 yr-old daughter has lived in this thing since Santa put it under the tree for her. She skied in inch-an-hour snowfall last weekend at Vail and stayed warm & dry. No problems.
Very , very cheap way to ensure you're not wasting the cost of a ski vacation or lift tix on a kid who just wants to stay inside and out of the cold!
granddaughter wanted for christmas so of course nana got it for her. beautifully made and lovely to look at. granddtr decides doesn't want anymor after it arrives and i wrap it. next year money in envelope!!

My granddaughter loved her jacket, It was a bithday gift. Since we live in the south I can't answer questions about snow or skiing but she was happy to have it when the temperature was in the 30's. It does run small but my granddaughter is very slim so it fit her perfectly.
Love this jacket and my daughter loves it too. Always seems to provide the right amount of warmth. She gets lots of compliments on the cute jacket and pink color
In terms of sizing, my daughter's chest is 32", waist 29", and hip 33.5". She is in betwen a L and XL. What is the length of the sleeve on this jacket?
I ordered this jacket in an XL for my 11 yr old daughter following the size chart. This jacket definitely runs small. The sleeves were too short and it was so tight that it would be impossible to wear a sweater underneath. Order at least a size larger. I had to reorder a womens small, and it fits very nicely with room for heavy sweaters or sweatjackets underneath. Backcountry was very accommodating with the return and repurchase. I will be shopping here again thanks in part to their excellent customer service and guarantee. My only complaint is I had to pay $70.00 more for a womens jacket. Of course Backcountry has no control over The North Face pricing, however it seems a bit much when I know that its not $70.00 worth of material or labor. Excellent customer service, keep up the good work.
Hi - I really depends on what type of cold weather you are talking about. I live in Salt Lake, and a 550 fill jacket is just fine here unless you spend a ton of time in the mountains around here, in which case I would probably bump up to a 700 fill jacket. If you are in a colder climate, I might check out one of the following for a little extra insulation: -The North Face Destiny Down Jacket -The North Face Nuptse Jacket -The North Face Amore Down -The North Face Helicity Down Jacket
I think any of these would be good options for something with more down insulation that the Aconcagua Jacket. Hope this helps-
Be sure to measure carefully before purchasing. My daughter is 5'1" and weighs 85 pounds. Size large was too wide and the sleeves were too short. I should have spent $50 more for the XS women's North Face Aconcagua jacket. I'm disappointed my 13 year old has outgrown girl sizes.
This is a very nice looking jacket, but I feel that it runs small. My daughter is a small size 5 ordinarily, and the XS (supposedly to fit 5-6) fits my daughter with very little room to spare. I wish I had taken time to check the fit a little better when I first got it, because I would have probably exchanged it for the next size. Ordering a size S (7-8) seemed ridiculous to me at the time since she is tiny. Given the size info, I would buy this item again.
Hi, I received the jacket. I wouldn't recommend for a younger child. I bought it for my 7 year old girl. It was thinner than it looks in the photo. In CT I would need to get an additional heavier jacket for the coldest part of winter. I was willing though because this looked so nice online and had great reviews. Well it was very pretty (kind of satiny) and actually form fitting. Unfortunately we returned it because we had a hard time getting the zipper to work. I struggled with the zipper and my 7 year old just gave up trying! So I returned it for a less pretty coat from Lands End, however it is, warmer, easy for a kid to zip up and can be layered with a zip in shell. Practicality over Beauty!
This jacket is great for those chilly days. It really goes well with the North Face Little Wing fleece jacket we bought her; however I wish the fleece zipped into this jacket or snapped in. I was told it did by the customer service agent I chatted online with, but unfortunately it does not. I would have given 5 stars if not for the misquote, but it's still a great jacket!
