    Rural riding companion.

We're sure the founders at Minnesota-based Teravail have experienced plenty of cracked pavement and construction zones along the rural roads around the Minnesota countryside, and fortunately, their challenges inspired them to create the Lickskillet Premium Tire. We've all had rides that find us turning optimistically onto a quiet country road only to discover that this year, the powers that be have made the disappointing decision to re-pave it with chip-sealed gravel. By that point, it's too late to turn around, so you push through what used to be one of your favorite shaded, winding climbs with tired hands, silently begging your tires to last for just a few more miles without flatting.

Designed to be used on roads where the word "paved" is applied loosely, the wide, plush tires are constructed with 120TPI and designed to be run at lower PSI than standard road tires, tubeless or clincher. Teravail carefully shaped the Lickskillet's low-profile tread to provide traction in inclement conditions while ensuring it maintains a low rolling resistance to behave like a road-specific tire. For a little extra reassurance, Teravail also includes a layer of flat protection, hoping to cut down the number of days when ill-intentioned road debris interrupts your ride.

    Pretty cool so far...

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

These are my first multi-surface tires, so not a lot to compare to. However, they seated easily on tubeless rims, have a really grippy compound that still rolls well and seem to have a robust sidewall that lets them handle road cornering. I'm anxiously interested to see how they perform in wet, cold conditions.

    Tough but roll well....

Mounted these on grail rims and couldn't get them to air up tubeless for the life of me. I've been setting up MTB tubeless for 10+ years and was pretty bummed these didn't work. I've now got about 50 miles on em w/ tubes and they've been pretty impressive, even in some MTB trails where I was really pushing the tires. Def not a full road tire but I ride a good mix of dirt and pavement so they're perfect up here in the Northeast. No long term durability review yet but the fact that I didn't flat on some rooty/rocky MTB trail @85PSI was impressive.
