Buckle into the Tecnica Dragon 120 HiPerFit Ski Boot and get ready to terrorize the villagers in the countryside and the snow-shrouded mountains alike. This boot features triple density plastic shell construction to give you hard, responsive zones for optimal power transfer and soft areas for ease of entry and comfort. Tecnica gave the Dragon 120 four ultra-thin carbon steel buckles that provide five times the strength of magnesium and an extremely low profile. The included ultraflex booster strap has a built in flex and rebound feature and adds progressive flex, shock absorption and rebound energy to the Dragon 120. A grippy, bi-injected A.V.S. sole design means no more slip-and-falls in parking lots.

Bottom Line: Why slay Dragons when you can harness their power?

I'm a fan

Just picked up a set of these last week. The past few season I've been skiing in Technica Diablo 130 Race Boots. I'm 6'3 220lbs very athletic and an aggressive all mountain skier. I loved my Diablos, but after ~120-150 days over 2.5 seasons they were just fried. Technica has really upped their game with these new Dragon's. The stance is a bit more upright than my Diablo 130's, which, oddly enough I feel helps me stay more forward on steeps as I am not trying to overcompensate for being pushed forward. For the terrain I ski (bumps, trees, powder, out of bounds) the upright stance helps me to be more dynamic than the more aggressive forward stance which is best for racing. Flex rating a bit lower, but I don't notice a difference. I don't put much stock in the actual "rating" as I tried on most of the 120-130 flex boots out there. Some felt very loose and I didn't find 1 that I thought was too stiff...maybe I am too big. The flex on these is great. The boot has a nice rebound so the flex is more spring-like (i.e. easier to flex at the top, harder as you continue to flex it. Some boots I have found to not be quite as dynamic). Anyway, I think the goal of this boot was to cater to skiers like myself...big aggressive all mountain riders who otherwise would end up in a race stock boot. I'm impressed so far with the upgrades. The buckles are nice as well...Carbon upgrade from Magnesium so they maintain a lower profile and are stronger. I've only got 3 days on them so far, but the fit is great for my feet and the performance is outstanding! Excited to continue breaking these in!

What do these weigh exactly? Are they on the heavy side compared to most boot or not? Thanks.

Weight: 11.99 lb [pair]

This is pretty much middle of the road compared to other boots in this category, weight wise.

comfortable Race boot made for the backside

If your looking for a boot with race performance that is meant for the whole mountain this boot is perfect. As a former racer turned all mountain skier I chose this as my transition boot and couldnt be happier. Fit is snug but not uncomfortable. If your worried about comfort and were considering the Agent 130 as I was, this is your boot. Ive got a season and a half on mine and have taken then into gates, into powder, moguls and backcountry. It can do it all.

How does the Dragon 120 compare to the Agent 130. The Agent

How does the Dragon 120 compare to the Agent 130. The Agent 130 has everything I'm looking for in a boot, but I hate to say it. I can't stand the purple. Would I be satisified with the performance of the Dragon 120 or should I just get the Agent 130.

Definitely slightly different boots. The Agent 130's are built for freeskiing pro level riders. Dragon 120 is perfect for your all-mountain advanced/expert.

Last: The Agent 130's are built on a performance driven 98mm last, were the Dragons use more moderate 100mm width. This 100mm last is the same last used in the Agent 110's.

Flex: Obviously the Agent 130's are slightly stiffer at a 130 flex; Dragon 120 = 120 flex.

Features: The Agent series includes a shock absorbent boot board and liner, were the Dragons have a more traditional, rigid board.

Yes the Dragon 120 will rip all mountain, but if are sold on the 98mm race inspired last and 130 flex, you may want to also check out the Race Pro 130.

Tecnica Dragon 120 HiPerFit Ski Boot

I agree that this boot is perfect for those of us who don't really fit a Lange but want a super stiff boot. I'm a bit of a weird foot shape - wear an 11 street shoe with a slightly wide forefoot and a narrower heel, and the 27.5 is perfect for me. The wider last is nice and hard to find in a 120 flexing boot. This boot goes on and off easily due to the liner construction and the low profile carbon steel buckles are great. I even like the racer boy color despite not being a racer myself.

I wear an 11.5 street shoe. All the ski boots I've ever

I wear an 11.5 street shoe. All the ski boots I've ever worn were 29.5 wich is a 11.5. They pack out quickly then get loose and sloppy. Would swiching to a 28.5 {10.5} help or would my feet be bound up. I ski 40 to 50 days a year. Someone once told me that liners were never bulit to last over about three seasons anyway.

I wear a size 13 street shoe and pack my foot into a 29.0 boot. You are buying way too big.

Because of my high arches, I'm also an 11.5 in street shoes but I've got these boots in a 28.5 and they fit great with a footbed. Without the arch support they seem a touch small, but as soon as the arch is supported it drew my toes back and the fit is perfect.

Awesome boot. You'll really enjoy it.

I always try and go with a half size smaller at least since in a few hours the boot will be broken in and loosen up. Usually I make sure that my toes are touching the end of boot I'm going to buy. Switching to a smaller size will definitely help you out.

Awesome Boot

By:

Just bought these and returned my Diablo Pro's. A little wider (perfect for my foot), but still very performant and solid. The liner was also a huge step up from the Diablo and I can actually wear these buckled all day. As an ex-racer, these were exactly what I was looking for - a comfortable, performance-oriented boot that I can rip all day in. Very impressed.

That is a question you should use the chat feature, but you really need to try boots on. Because you have very big feet, you should shop around at ski shops looking for older models. It is easy to find great sales on big boots that are left over for from the previous year or two. My dad wears a size 31 boot. He wears a size 13 in work/dress boots, and a 14/15 in sneakers. He loves his 2006 salomon Xwave 9s that he got in 2008 for $250 (regular price was $650). They are nice and stiff (flex index of 100 or 110). As the boots get bigger, the flex index number stays the same, but the boot is stiffer than a smaller boot of the same model. This is based on the assumption that people with big feet are larger and need a stiffer boot. My brother is 20 and he has the same size foot as my dad, but he is a lot lighter (and he doesn't ski). He tried on my dad's boots and he couldn't flex them at all, but they fit him. Do you have a narrow foot or a wide foot? my dad has a relatively narrow foot. Stiffer boots tend to be narrower than softer boots, but work can be done buy a bootfitter to make boots wider in certain spots (just not longer). Make sure that you are actually a 31.5 (half sizes are not very different from whole sizes, so if you find a 31, you should try it on. You don't want to get boots that are too big or you will be in pain. Your toes should touch the front when standing, and pull back when you bend your knees forward.

Flex of 90 so it isn't very stiff, but might be stiffer in a big size - had size 31.

Had size 31.5 flex of 100, still not very stiff for a men's boot.

My glass slipper is a Dragon

By:
October 13, 2009

I have always had problems with ski boots, I have size 13 street shoes and wear a 29.5 ski boot, but I have always had problems with fit, or conversly with flex. Being a big guy I need a responsive yet comfy boot, and this is it, after trying several pairs, even ones from Tecnica, I found these jems! they take a bit to break in, but once they do, they are awesome I can wear them all day, and they are forcefull enough to drive my 186 Nordica Hellcats at mach 1 down the slopes but dont beat me up too much on the choppy crud, and bumps. As you can imagine they are not for everyone but I can say that I love them and if you are a hard charger like me and are looking for comfort AND performance look no more friends you found your glass slipper, now just dont turn into a pumpkin....
