Swix Moly-Fluoro Base Conditioning Wax is required equipment for racers, and a great base-preserving method for anyone who rides on dirty or abrasive snow. The addition of molybdenum adds an extra level of protection against filthy spring conditions, and makes a great base for hard-to-apply high-fluoro powder waxes. Recommended iron setting: 135F.

Bottom Line: Preserve your bases and drop your splits.

Will this wax be very fast in cold weather?
I'VE NOTICED THAT fluoro waxes do NOT work well
in low humidity or cold weather.

I've been a wax tech for a while and this wax is excellent for most base preps. This is a great wax for cleaning your base. The wax reduces static interactions between your skis and the snow and is great for repelling dirt. Best used for old, dirty snow. Not necessary for new snowfalls.

You iron it in to the base of your skis with a wax iron. The proper technique to doing this is a bit complicated, but basically you're going to be crayoning it into the base and then ironing it in (gently, so as not to burn your bases). So you'd be putting it on as a base to protect your skis, and then applying more specific waxes on top of it.

It is typically used as a starter layer before putting more temperature specific waxes on to the base of your skis. Moly reduces static in the base which helps with repelling dirt. It also assists the base in accepting the higher fluoro waxes. Any race or distance recommendation from SWIX with older snow includes a Moly Fluoro base layer.
