    Great Gloves!

I gave these to the lady. Sizing was a real issue as the smalls were too small and the mediums were too big. With gloves you always want to go towards the smaller as you never want vacant space in a glove. The heat your hand creates won't work as well with vacant space. They do back out a small bit so count on that. The smalls have worked well so far and the gloves have good warmth and the water proofing is stellar.

      The Best! Worth every penny!

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: Runs small
      • Size Bought: large

Bought these gloves 2 years ago for a ski trip to Whistler, BC. Had tried several other brands and types of gloves/mittens over the years, but my hands always ended up cold and I was miserable. I also have mild Raynaud's that is marked by poor circulation at times in the fingers and toes. Therefore, I needed something extraordinary. I wasn't thrilled to be paying this much for a pair of mittens, but had heard good things about them. I'm telling you, these mittens are one of the best purchases I've ever made. Worth every penny and more!!! I skied at Whistler in sub zero temperatures and a white-out, and my hands were very, very warm the entire time! I have used them numerous times over the last few years on ski trips to Colorado and Montana, and I'd be lost without them! So comfortable, toasty warm, and easy to zip/unzip so to expose your hand in the glove part (instead of having to completely take the mitten off). The index finger and thumb are touch screen compatible. There is plenty of room between the glove and the mitten, so to trap heat. They don't get wet easily and dry quite quickly. I'm usually a medium in most gloves, but these run a bit small and so bought the large. Even if you have a little extra room in them, you are able to maneuver easily. I highly, highly recommend them.

      Insulation could be better

These are the best I've found after 20 years in the ski industry. But the insulation could be better. I always sew in an extra layer of material inside the zipper. There is plenty of room in between the gloves and the mitten. I don't know why Swany doesn't make this as warm as possible. But I love the zipper. It keeps you so much warmer to just unzip if you need to use your fingers, as opposed to taking the entire mitten off. And on hot days, it's good ventilation. They run a tiny bit small. I'm almost always a small, but I'm a medium in these (which are generous on me). The leather is good quality.

      Happy wife = happy life

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Wife always complained about having poor circulation and cold hands when skiing. Female friend works at a ski shop in Vail and pretty much told her she was buying these. She has been really happy, loves them, and hasn't mentioned her 'poor circulation' since. Highly recommended.

      Dual Mitten-to-Glove

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Love them! At first I had a hard time unzipping the glove quickly, but after a little bit of practice it became second nature. The dual mitten-to-glove functionality is amazing and is especially useful on the chair lifts or on the slopes. They are warm, but I've found myself wanting a glove warming packet on those very cold days. Other than that, the leather is stylish and sleek, the dual functionality is effective and they keep my hands warm enough.

      Love Love Love These Gloves

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I put quite a lot of thought into buying gloves for this season, probably more than necessary, but I was willing to spend a decent amount of money on good gloves. I always get way colder than everyone else while skiing and my gloves I had definitely were not warm enough. I have used these twice. The first time I was out snowboarding for about 4 hours in about 15 degree weather and only for the last half hour were my fingers a tiny bit cold, but not bad. The second time I was out skiing for just 3 hours and it was about 25 degrees and my hands actually got a little too warm. I love the zippers because all I had to do was unzip it for a couple runs to cool my hands off a bit. I was pretty happy about the fact that I could use my iPhone with the liner (I unzipped the side of the glove and stuck my fingers out to send a text, answer phone call, change music, etc. and I didn't have to take the entire glove off). I mean, you do have to pull the liner tight on your finger and texting isn't really easy, but it's better than taking the glove off. My one major complaint is the the glove is not longer. I am constantly having to un-velcro my jacket sleeve and pull it over my glove again. I want to give it 2 stars because that gets pretty annoying, but they're such great gloves I still gave them 4. Oh and I would like them a little better if they had a mitten liner instead of finger.

      My super duper mittens

I was very stressed and frustrated about finding a pair of gloves/mittens that would keep me warm. My previous pair was Swany so when the agent suggested these, I was not impressed. However, after being informed and educated about the performance of these mittens/gloves, I took the plunge. One of my favorite things about the legends is the zipper. On the mountain, I'll zip up when I'm going down and then on the lift I'll slightly unzip them to get some air in. They are absolutely perfect for me and I am very happy. If I did change anything, I would extend the wrist part so it covers more of my arm.

I estimated my glove size by measuring...

I estimated my glove size by measuring from the tip of my middle finger to my wrist and it was 7". Does that mean I'm an XL? I usually have to buy size S in most my accessories and attire.

        Best Answer

When it comes to gloves, the sizing won't match the Smalls you normally get in most of your attire and accessories. Glove companies seem to struggle with the notion of standard sizing. Every companies "Medium" (which is the glove that is designed and used to grade up and down from to get the remainder of the sizes) is always different than the next companies due to the factories that they are using.

For this glove with a 7" hand, you'll want to go with the XL. In addition to hand length being the main factor for glove sizing for this company. If you have "wide" hands the XL's might be too small. If you have "narrow" hands then the XL's will fit length wise but might be too "baggy."

        Hope this helps!
