the online software did not work for me. It didnt even install on my computer. The food pod came with a dead battery. I sent this back and got a polar. This face was also huge on women.

T6d is a nice Upgrade to the T6

By: Backcountry.com Employee

I recently purchased the Suunto T6d as an upgrade to my T6. I was having trouble with the T6 heart rate readings and I finally gave up. The watch served me well but it was time to move on. I basically beat the crap out of it.

The T6d has improved the UI and usability which is greatly appreciated. The watch is more easily navigated during multisport events and I like that it's now easier to "disconnect" from my heart rate monitor and foot pod when I want to leave training mode. I looked at two other watches when making my decision: Garmin Forerunner® 310XT and the new Forerunner® 405. Ultimately, the T6d won out for a few reasons: 1) as a triathlete I need one unit that does it all. While I can't get HR in the water I'm happy to wear it in knowing it will survive and give me my swim split. The new Forerunner 405 is water resistant but I talked with a Garmin technician that advised me not to wear it in the water. I read multiple posts online deeming this a bad idea as well. The 310XT is waterproof and a solid multisport device. However, it's too damn big. The other nice thing is that it's GPS enabled so I could see just how poorly I swim a line in open water. However, the size is whacked.

The T6d foot pod is quite accurate as I tested in on a track. I calibrated it ever so slightly to hone in on better accuracy. I'm training with this watch and just completed a half ironman with it. I'm stoked on it. I also like movescount which allows you to track and analyze your workouts online. It's a much better solution that Suunto's previous install-based software.

If Garmin's 405 was waterproof then that might have tipped the scales. However, I'm a Suunto guy for this iteration.
