If you opt for a rest day or different workout, it adjusts the rest of your ten-day cycle to ensure you get enough exercise during each phase of training. Plug the t4 Heart Rate Monitor into your PC to track your improving fitness. Of course, the t4 has all the features you'd expect from Suunto: real-time heart rate, calories burned data, heart rate alarms—all the goodies. great watch

I have had mine now for about 2 years. I run about 15-20 miles a week, hit the gym, and hike and climb with it. The battery doesn't last as long as my polar I previously had. But this thing is so much better than the multiple polars I have had in the past. I used to destroy a polar watch (even the expensive ones) about one to two a year. They just break and Polar usually just gives you a discount on replacements.
This thing is smaller, lighter, and works much better. The comfort strap is also a HUGE benefit. Most climbers will agree that getting a stiff strap to stay up around your lats sucks. This one stays puts with its soft design and grippy spots it reads from.

Pretty excellent

For what it's made to do this thing is pretty excellent. HR monitor works perfectly every time. Always stays in place. A bit tricky to use, but the manual is written well, so once you've set it up you'll be good to go. The coach feature is nice, lets you know how to train as best as possible, but I have a tight schedule, so I frequently disobey it, and it changes the next five days to adjust to what I do.

I haven't used any other heart rate watches however, so I don't know what else is out there, but I'm pleased with this watch.

I've heard the face of the watch scratches very easily because it's made of some kind of plastic rather than glass/crystal. Has anyone experienced that or does anyone know what the face materials is?

It does scratch up.

The watch is really cool and gets lots of compliments. It is cheaply constructed. Water resistance is horrible. Do not swim with it on! Fogs up all the time. Found a crack through housing by upper left button. Looks great functions perfectly... just is all put in a cheap housing.

Good for those wanting to get off the couch

I have since upgraded to the t6c, but before that I used the t4. If you're just starting out on the fitness path, the Coach feature (unique to the t4c within the Suunto family) will be very helpful making sure your new found enthusiasm doesn't lead to overwork and burnout. The data is accurate and reliable. There's a fairly active discussion board over at Suunto's website where you can learn more about the watch before you buy (and/or ask questions after you buy) the watch.

If you're looking to download heaps of information from your workouts this may not be the watch for you. However, if you are looking for something to get you started in the world of heart monitor training...the t4c should do the job.

im not much of a runner but this thing keeps me interested and on track. i just try to do what it tells me and it actually works but you have to stick with it and just keep in mind that its a computer. its cool how if youre training well and getting better it will ask/suggest that you move up to higher training category to push you a little harder

Love it

Does everything you want. Very accurate. I decided to do a little experiment and wore the watch and chest strap for 24 hours just to see. Wore it under a coat and had no transmission problems. The chest strap is a lot smaller than I thought it would be. Love it.

does everything

much of the features of this watch are wasted on me, because I mostly jsut like to see distance and speed, but this is the first HR monitor watch that didnt' get ripped off in the first 20 minutes becuase the strap was much more comfortable than any of hte others I've tried. I found it to be pretty accurate with regards to distance , too and the watch itself is not gigantic.
