Description

Chubba has blossomed into an agile, sexy beast.

The Surface New Life Ski probably took a lot of ribbing when it was young and fatter than all the other skis, but look at it now: it's pow-floating, crud-busting, potato-mashing, and loved by all. Its symmetrical profile with Subtle 3 Stage Rocker tip and tail give it tons of lift in pow, forward or switch, and its lovably wide waist never augers no matter how deep the snow is. A full wood core of crazy-stable maple and smooth-ride poplar keep this ski alive and capable, while the ABS sidewall and minicap construction promises edgehold and durability without the weight. Whether hauling ass down a skinny chute or flying off a slopeside kicker, or sweeping arcs in an open bowl of freshies, you and fatty have the last laugh.

  • Maple and poplar wood core

Thriller in the trees

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I bought my New Life's 2 seasons ago and though I had heard that they were exceptional powder skis I honestly had no idea how versatile and responsive these 2-stage rockered fatties would be.
I first rode them in the Monashees in the deepest powder, but I've also skiied them in crud, windblown, and on corduroy but mostly have been fortunate to use them in the trees. They are responsive and super flexible boards.
Freaking scary on ice, but they are fabulous for those days when you think you'll have fresh or soft conditions.

So damn fun

These are the most fun powder ski on the market. Most rocker I have ever seen on a ski. I mounted them with Look Pivot binding. Best combination out there

These are sweeeeeet fun!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Took a pair of these to Japan last year and they were ridiculous amounts of fun. They were the previous model to this and correct me if Im wrong but I believe there isnt too much that has changed. Super duper playful ski but be cautious of the completely symmetrical shape as it took a bit of getting used to when it was centre mounted! Once I had gotten over being in the middle of the ski and changed my skiing style to suit it was super fun! They rip in powder!

These are sweeeeeet fun!

Bouncy pow fun

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These things are a blast. Built for deep snow, they're tons of fun. The intense 3-stage rocker gives these skis a bouncing effect in deep snow, which is real fun. While they don't perform too well on hardpack, I haven't had much trouble laying down a few carves when needed.

If you're looking for a playful pow ski, this might be the one for you. Also, keep in mind Surface recommends that these skis be mounted true center.
