You'll probably get monstrous amounts of pow down your gullet when you're slashing on the Surface Lab Ski, but that's part of the game with a giant, full rocker pow crusher. At 131mm underfoot, the Lab's definitely a serious fatty-bo-batty, and the continuous tip to tail rocker means it can pivot on a dime, throw giant sideways turns, and powerslide like a rally car on a dirt track. There are lots of fat rockered pow skis, though; what sets the Lab apart is its Deep Dish convex base, which is 3mm lower in the center than at the edges (kind of like a boat hull) to give you the ultimate loose, surfy feel when things get mind-meltingly deep. You'll never hang up the full-wrap steel edges and go all flippy floppy when you don't mean to. Surface built the Lab with burly ABS sidewalls for torsional rigidity and durability. It put the whole package on a super-playful birch and poplar core that'll let you toss this fully symmetrical beauty off backcountry booters and nipple-deep wind drifts with the greatest of ease.
