Bought this as a gift for friend's rock-climbing, sun-lovin' rug-rat who had lost his first one and neither he nor his parents could live without it. Great coverage and don't kid yourself, the kids can rock this smart little play hat. Don't worry about taking cover in the middle of the fun, this really brings the shade to your little one. The detail in the design is another reason they stuck with a repeat of the lost one--the venting mesh and cool breakaway strap plus the quality fabric and stitching makes it worth every cent. He's a big toddler for 3 1/2, went with the 5-9 and while slightly large, it was fine.
