The next generation of protection.
It's a long-held truth that foul weather cycling apparel will be fraught with compromise, and nowhere is this more apparent than riding jackets. In days past, you had to choose between a waterproof hardshell, which invariably turned into a sweatbox, or a breathable softshell that did little when faced with a deluge. But Sugoi wasn't content with the status quo, which is why it built the RSX NeoShell Jacket. With Polartec's revolutionary NeoShell material, this jacket is able to blend the waterproof characteristics of a hardshell with the breathability and feel of a softshell. Now, it's possible to deliver a lightweight, protective jacket without having to rely on abrasive pit zips.
The big story is undoubtedly the NeoShell construction. Through an arrangement with Polartec, Sugoi is able to exclusively offer the material for cycling apparel. A 10,000mm waterproof rating means that the RSX jacket has the same wind and precipitation blocking capabilities as most hardshell jackets, especially when considering that the RSX jacket has waterproof tape applied to all of the seams. However, it uses a proprietary membrane that's not only waterproof, but it's also built to carry moisture away from the skin, even at low activity levels. And when paired with the soft polyester backing and durable nylon face fabric, the feel is that of a softshell, only with a level of protection that softshells cannot provide.
There's nothing quite like the irritation that comes with a jacket that won't stop flapping. Accordingly, Sugoi's Pro Fit was employed for the RSX jacket. As the most conforming fit in the lineup, Pro Fit keeps the jacket close to the body. The sleeves are articulated in order to more closely match your position on the bike, especially in the drops. The torso is cut slim, and it contours to your core, while the drop tail deflects wheel-spray and keeps you covered when you're in the drops. Whether you're mountain biking, or riding the road, the RSX will move with you and keep you covered through winter's worst.
When it came time to design the RSX, Sugoi opted to sweat the small stuff and build a jacket hell-bent on function. The low-profile removable hood is a nod to that approach. It's affixed with a hook-and-loop closure, and it quickly stows in the zippered back pocket for quick deployment. Speaking of which, the pockets are designed to be out of the way of your hydration pack's straps. And the reflective accents throughout increase your visibility to motorists in low-light conditions.
The Sugoi RSX NeoShell jacket is available in five sizes from Small to XX-Large and in the colors Cyan and Black.
