I've long heard stories about my father's old Stormy Kromer and how it was the perfect winter hat. So, for his 69th birthday I bought him some Laphroaig scotch and a new Stormy Kromer hat. To say the least, he loves the hat (and the scotch, naturally)! I deliberately went with the ear flaps for maximum ear protection while he's working during the winter time. Additionally, I purchased him the 7 3/4 size since his melon is around 24 inches - it's a little tall, but the width is perfect. He's a pretty sharp looking dude in it and incidentally, we match!
The Rancher is a seriously warm cap for seriously cold conditions - over four times warmer than the Original. We make it with our premium wool/nylon blend, then line it with 200 gram Thinsulate® to ramp up the heat. To that we add two extra inches of fleece-filled comfort on the earband, creating the mother of all head protection systems.

This hat is sweet. Super warm and comfy. Great for cold winter nights choppin wood and smoking a pipe. Or if you got a beard its pretty much mandatory to have this hat.
