Trad Climbing Utah Wall, Ogden Canyon

List Description
List Description
Ogden Canyon is a great place to learn Trad Climbing. There are are variety of climbs with varying difficulties, but there are definitely enough beginner routes. Utah wall is a great place to start out, and is only a short walk from the Hole in the Wall pull out. Routes require mostly Camelots, most common #1, #2, #3 but bring a range of sizes. Be very mindful that your gear placements are not set to deep into cracks because you will lose cams. There are a few cams permanently stuck in cracks because of deep gear placements. Make sure and have some leashes or webbing to reduce rope drag in certain places. The routes are usually straight forward and not to technical. Many are bolted at the top of the first pitches for an easy rap down. If you finish the wall by doing second pitches be sure you know how to build anchors and always build in redundant protection! The walk off from the top is a little sketchy but just take it slow. Hope this helps, you can ask for more details.
