cold sleeper satisfied
Mountain Hardwear Lamina -15 Sleeping Bag: -15 Degree Synthetic
June 24, 2008
i sleep cold - and need the insulation to keep me at a comfy temperature. i've had this bag for 1 year and took it winter camping several times on some 5-6 day trips. with temps way below freezing - frost inside the tent (and on my bag) - i kept nice and warm. I'm skinny (5'5" and 110 lbs), so i don't always touch the sides of my sleeping bag. this was a problem in the past, as i woke up from cold spots when i shifted. but it doesn't seem to happen with this bag. and after repeated stuffings, it has kept it's loft fairly well... only seeming issue is that it seems too sweat a lot. my bag always seemed a lot wetter than my companion's bag in the morning (though i never had a problem w/comfort).

caught on a big wall
Mountain Hardwear Wander Pant - Women's
May 6, 2008
unexpectedly with rain and hail on a hanging belay. These pants just held up great! My legs stayed warm and the cinch on the legs helped to keep the draft from crawling up and freezing me from the inside out. I generally wear an XS for Patagonia or Prana - but for Mountain Hardwear clothes, it goes up to S or size 4.

bomber!
CAMP USA Anodized Dyneema Tri-Cams
August 15, 2007
i find the tri-cams extremely useful. from its camming action in horizontal cracks, to being placed as passive pro in those hard to place piton scars, i never head up the wall without them. so, when i dropped one, i had to buy its replacement immediately!

these guys really stick!
Metolius Ultralight Curve Nut
August 15, 2007
the curves make it bomber placements, but it also makes it hard to remove! i bought this to replace the one left in the wall. (belonged to a friend's rack). i personally have the BD stoppers as they are easier to remove and just as easy to place.

not at the hip...
Isis Lucy Pant - Women's
June 29, 2007
these were well fitted pants - very nice cut. however, it didn't "sit just above the hip" for me. in fact, it landed over my belly button, and made it feel a bit constricting for me when bending forward. if it wasn't for this, it would have been the pants i was searching ages for! instead, i had to return them.

great jacket but thin shell
Mountain Hardwear Compressor PL Jacket - Women's
June 29, 2007
this jacket promises to compress, and boy, does it ever! unfortunately, the shell was a bit too thin for my taste since i was looking for something to bring up the rock with me for cold belays. i didn't think it could withstand too many abrasions from the crag, so i returned it.

cute jacket!
Marmot Ice Fall Jacket - Women's
June 29, 2007
if you're looking for something hip and cute around town, this is the jacket for sure! the cut is well fitted and keeps the draft out. but if you need higher performance for the backcountry trips, this might not be the perfect thing. it's a bit heavier and bulkier than other synthetic jackets and wouldn't be my first choice to stuff into the pack.

decent but not for me...
Teva Pretty Rugged Nylon Sandals - Women's
April 12, 2007
the cushion is great and the soles are grippy! still, i found the nylon straps a bit abrasive for me and caused blisters.

excellent deal!
Black Diamond Etrier Five-Step
April 12, 2007
got this for less than $16 when the everyone else is selling it for more than $35!! what a steal! after several hours use, the webbing takes a toll on your feet and i was a bit sore. however, i doubt another product would be any different.

Make sure you measure that battery!
Crumpler The New School Hymn Laptop Case
March 13, 2007
I had a battery that stuck out the back of my laptop (one of those extended batteries for longer use off the power grid) and so the laptop didn't fit. Shame because it look fab!

Black Diamond Oval Carabiner
March 13, 2007
Save, reliable, perfect for aiding! If you have a super heavy rack, may be worth it to get the Ovalwire biners to save a bit of weight. Otherwise, you can't beat these for the money!

Less than perfect
Teva Pretty Rugged Nylon Sandals - Women's
March 13, 2007
I found these to be a bit narrow so they didn't seem to support lateral foot movement very well. The fabric under the Velcro was also thin, so for my sensitive feet, it took longer to break in.
