wonderfully comfortable: almost no breaking in
Lowa Banff Backpacking Boot - Men's
May 12, 2005
I like Lowa boots, ever since I bought a pair of Lowa renegade mid-hiking boots several years ago. They required literally no breaking in. My new Banff backpacking boots are not yet quite so comfortable, being more robust for heavier ground, but they are well on the way and should last for years.

a classic
The North Face Denali Fleece Jacket - Men's
March 17, 2005
I like the fit and the feel. I already own the windblock version, which is brilliantly wind-resistant and which I wear with just a flannel shirt while walking in weather down to about 22F. This one is much warmer indoors, with heavier weight Polartec.

a little disappointing?
Salomon Super X Mid XCR Shoe - Men's
March 17, 2005
I am a fan of Solomon shoes. The reviews of the Super-X mid XCR shoe were very encouraging. But so far I’m a little disappointed. Maybe they will wear in, but to date the fit at the ankle is not nearly as snug as I had expected. The ankle strap doesn't help much - yet, anyway.

snug but small
The North Face Baltoro HV 400 Boot - Men's
January 19, 2005
I usually take a 13 but bought size 14 because north face shoes and boots are notoriously small. A prudent precaution because they are still very snug. A good product but they MUST improve sizing.
