sleek, warm, nice vest

The North Face WindWall 1 Vest - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 January 7, 2008

I like my windwall vest mucho. More so than my Marmot vest. This vest is used primarily as an insulating layer underneath another coat on a particularly cold day. It does a good job at blocking out cold and wind. I do not like the way the neck zips up and feel, however. The neck is too stiff. Otherwise, this is my winter vest now. I can wear it sans jackets during Spring and Fall, too, I figure.

Good gloves; great value

Arc'teryx Delta Glove - Unisex

Rating for this product: 4 December 17, 2007

Very good gloves for the price. Nice tabs for making it easy to put on. Great fit. Decent handling ability, but lacking any rubberish grips. Snug but not tight. So far, warm down to 25F (I've not had any weather colder). Semi-effective against wind. Great value for lower end gloves.

Columbia Omni-Dry Silver Ridge Cargo Short - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 May 1, 2007

Very light, lotsa pockets, nice removable belt, water resistant and comfortable. I would have liked some drawstrings, too, but ya can't have it all. I liked them enough to buy a second pair.

mojo prana shorts

prAna Mojo Shorts - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 April 30, 2007

I like these shorts a lot. Comfy, boxer short type waistband, almost swimsuit like water resistance and nice deep front pockets. One or more cargo pockets would have been good along with a zipper fly for the men's room. Otherwise, excellent shorts!

Mojo short

prAna Mojo Shorts - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 April 18, 2007

Love the boxer shorts type fit and feel. Very light; feels like a swimsuit (sans jock) but looks and wears like a pair of shorts. Like the two deep front pockets, but would have also liked at least one cargo pocket and a zip fly. Love the water-resistant aspect. Great shorts. Now I have two.

Accomplice Jacket

Arc'teryx Accomplice Fleece Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 March 12, 2007

This is my favorite fleece jacket. I have a Burton AK and an Arc'teryx Delta AR. The Accomplice is light, repels wind and water, very stylish (particularly in black), and very comfy. It can be worn around town here in NYC it is that cool. But it is also very light and functional and warm. I have used it as a mid-layer and then an outer layer either warming up inside from the frigid cold or on milder days. It ain't cheap, but it is so well-made and so form/function strong, that I am very glad I bought it.

The North Face Bionic

The North Face Apex Bionic Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 March 12, 2007

I like my The North Face Bionic a lot. It is light, repels water, is comfy and works well in 40F-55F, depending on whether I have a layer underneath. The sleeves are a bit too long, but I figure that's for the climbers and jocks who need it. I love the look (in black), too. Great value this softshell. Excellent option to have in the closet.

Excellent Jacket

Arc'teryx Accomplice Fleece Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 March 9, 2007

I love my Arc'teryx Accomplice jacket. I am wearing it as I type this review (and I'm in an office on Wall St...it's cold today!). This is my favorite fleece jacket compared to my Burton AK and Arc'teryx Delta AR. It is stretchy like a softshell (so cool), light, warm, (but not hot), blocks the wind, and very cool looking. I have black and can wear this around town in NYC and it is very urban. Just as great, light, functional and cool-looking jacket. I wear it either as a mid-layer under my The North Face RedPoint or alone. I also like the hip-length.

Epic Jacket

Mountain Hardwear Epic Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 February 21, 2007

Very light, nice, well-made, and great-priced jacket from MH. I like the large pit zips. Good fit, too. Good coverage. I cannot comment on the rain resistance though, which is why I bought it, cos it's been too cold in the north east to test yet (I bought this for spring, summer, fall wear), so my fingers are crossed, but I am betting it's gonna be a lot better than the run of the mill slicker I had (fer shur).

North Face Red Point

The North Face Redpoint Insulated Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 February 15, 2007

I rate this jacket highly because it is a great value. I love how light it is, and yet how warm it keeps me. I think it is fine with a long-sleeve shirt underneath down to about 32F, but anything colder than that I add a nice fleece layer, too. The Redpoint is well-made, and comfortable. I have no problems with the napoleon zipper getting stuck thus far. The hand pockets are medium-sized, and big enough for me. I wish The North Face had included an inside pocket. The jacket is so very light; I really like it a lot.

Micro Chill Zip Tee

Mountain Hardwear Micro Chill Zip Tee - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 February 15, 2007

I like this light, comfy fleece shirt. It is very light, and provides a nice amount of warmth. It's a tad stretchy too, which is cool. The zipper catches a bit towards the top and a medium (which is my standard size) is a drop too snug for me (but I don't think a large would be appropriate). The value for this particular pull-over fleece is very good, so I am quite pleased I got it.
