Beware!

The North Face Hedgehog GTX XCR Hiking Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 2 April 14, 2008

OK, maybe I'm not an expert, but if I were you, I'd give a second thought before buying these shoes. I think TNF should stay away from making shoes and keep their OK line of trendy "outdoor" gear. When you pay this much for shoes you should get quality and all you get here is Vibram Sole (2 thumbs up!!), Gore-Tex XCR membrain (can't beat that!!) and the rest is crappy craftsmanship from TNF: 1. What's up with skinny laces? I'ts almost impossible to tighten them up and when you finally do, then comes #2 2. Top of the shoes has bad stiching that vary painfully digs into the top of yous foot no matter how you try to lace or adjust them. Just for comparison, most of professional shoe making companies DO pay attention to that and insert THIN materials there to prevent the problem, but no, the TNF decided just to stitch them up and send on market, like they do lately with all their gear. So concluding it all I'd stay away and spend same money on less "famous" brand name but more respected.

Awesome but you gotta move in it...

Arc'teryx Gamma SV Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 January 4, 2008

Great jacket, fits tight, not much space for layering under. Fabric quality great, good name Arc'teryx, not sure if it's worth the money, you really should have necessity to buy this jacket, a bit useless on cold days if you are in town, not on a hike or climb. Anyway, use it for what it was made for, don't buy it just as another cool looking piece for your wardrobe.

Good jacket, but some issues

Mountain Hardwear Nemesis Softshell Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 January 4, 2008

Great piece of equipment if you don't mind it being too small even through MHW sizing chart. Fits small, smaller than usual MHW gear, you want to order next size up. Light, sleeves are "normal" length, even a bit too short, comparing to those new nowadays technical shells and climbing jackets that feel like they were built for monkeys. Thick woven front, decent wind resistance. Athletic cut, so if you got pot belly, go with diff brand or jacket.

The best light backpack out there

Arc'teryx Needle 35 Backpack - 2014-2258 cu in

Rating for this product: 5 January 4, 2008

This was the best best backpack I ever bought. Perfect size for 2-3 days hikes or small trips. Filled to capacity small enough to use as carry-on on most airlines (still you want to double check) so it won't get damaged and tossed around. Sits close to torso, low top so you don't have to look down all the time, very sturdy material. Funky hydration pocket (I can't fit my CamelBak bladder in it, so it's kinda useless), overall the best out there. If you need size up, look ant Needle 45.

Best underwear for travel

Icebreaker BodyFit200 Boxer - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 January 4, 2008

Best underwear for travel, doesn't itch. Maybe I got last year model, looking at previous review, so it's hard to tell, but mine hold pretty well so far, no tag itching, doesn't climb in your crotch, doesn't SMELL, but you still will have to change sometimes.

Great, but looses shape

Icebreaker SuperFine190 Tech T - Short-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 January 4, 2008

Great t-shirt, but looses shape after a couple of months of use. As always unbelievable fabric, doesn't hold odor for days. Warm.. ish, good for traveling, when you cannot take shower every day or use laundromat. Buy it

Great fleece, but...

Marmot Afterburner Fleece Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 January 4, 2008

Great piece of equipment if you don't mind it being bulky. Fits true to size, if you want use layers under, order next size up. Light, sleeves are "normal" length, comparing to those new technical shells and climbing jackets that feel like they were built for monkeys. Great service with this company as usual.

Nice layer, that's it

Icebreaker BodyFit260 Tech Top - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 January 4, 2008

Very nice piece of layering, that's all about it, collar is tight and too high up in your chin, so if you have short neck, beware. Very warm just under a shell, dries quick, not bulky. Doesn't hold odor. try before buy.

Not too much as an outdoor piece

Icebreaker LTD320 Coronet Sport Top - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 3 January 4, 2008

If you looking for a good layer, stick with Bodyfit 260. As far as this sweater, it's lot more expensive, a bit too large to use as layer under technical shell and just a good looking wool sweater, no reason pay so much just for name Icebreaker. Overall, comfortable, more city use than outdoor.
