Patagonia Function and Quality

Patagonia Stretch Element Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 March 14, 2006

Just finished testing out these pants with four days of cross country ski touring and two days of downhill tele skiing. Great trim fit for slender bodies, but with plenty of movement and additional stretch if needed. Gaiters fit fine over burly telemark boots and stayed put even with deep turns. For cross country touring they still felt light and not too hot. I added shock cord loops to the bottom of the gaiters and hooked them over the heels of my cross country boots, snow free ankles even in deep powder. The waterproof zippers are finicky and bind up a little. If any tension is on the material, the zippers do not perform well. I think the engineering of these zippers has some room to improve. Otherwise, great product. If you fall between sizes, order up!

Stretch Element Sizing

Patagonia Stretch Element Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 3 March 13, 2006

I returned the first pair of these pants because I ordered too small. I mostly wear a 33 waist across many brands but also wear 32's. I ended up needing the 34's in this pant. They still fit very trim, but have room to tuck a base layer. The fly/bomb-bay zipper operates much better when it has a little slack as well. My advice for odd size waists: order up!
