To put it simply, if you have not switched to these already, do so now. I am on my fourth pair and I love them.

Pro-tec Ace Spade Fullface Helmet

Rating for this product: 5 February 13, 2006

This is my first full-face helmet for riding, and I only use it when I go backcountry, or am trying something new off a booter. It’s an excellent helmet and I really like the fact that it can take multiple impacts. It saved my face from an under rotated backflip, the crash was severe enough to knock my teeth out if I didn’t have it. The sizing chart is WAY OFF. It stated I should order a small and I knew this was wrong so I ordered a medium, and it is still a little too small. So order larger than usual! All in all a great helmet that will help you progress safely and I recommend this to anyone who needs a full-face helmet.

686 Ace Format Down Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 January 21, 2006

Ok, first off this is a great jacket, but not the best for heavy use. If you get more than a hundred days on the hill, I would not recommend it. It starts to get wet very easy after about 25-30 days on the hill, especially in the backcountry where you will be immersed in snow more often. The zippers are HORRIBLE, and get caught every time. Not good if you need to open your jacket quickly (i.e. to gain access to your beacon for a search) Hook-and-loop closure from pants will also eat away the material and expose inner layers of coat. I do love this jacket and I wear it every day, it is warm and has good pockets but needs a little more r and d if you plan on using it in the backcountry. I would def. recommend this jacket if you live in a cold environment and don’t plan on going backcountry that much.

Although I have not had to use this (in a real burial situation)I hope i never do. It is comfy to wear and gives you peace of mind that you can last 60 min. buried during a avalanche a great item to bring on your next excursion.

686 Softshell goodness

686 Relax Hooded Softshell Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 January 14, 2006

Great softshell for mellow days on the hill or just lounging around the house. Waterproofing not bad and it cuts the wind down. I wish it had a removable powder skirt though, because they help keep the draft out. Excellent jacket with a killer print.
