My Fave
Arc'teryx Tau Pullover - Men's
August 20, 2008
I love this shirt.....great color (cactus), tailored fit, long sleeves (I'm a woman with long arms so I buy men's smalls all the time)..... repels much wind so it doesn't breathe as well as some thinner fleece, so I use it when I need more heat.....like winter time and late fall... or stormy mountain weather. I love the pocket on the chest and arm. I love the high neck....since mine needs more protection or I get sore throats. And I love the long torso length since I have a long torso. I love the weave of the fleece.... gives a permanent loft to the fabric. It washes and dries super. The only thing is that under pack belts the fabric does pill up. But I'm living with that! roteffela nordic binding
Alpina Rotefella NNN BC Auto Binding
December 17, 2005
I almost lost a friend using Rottefella step-in bindings. She gets very cold and we were out in the alpine basin three hours from humanity. She was getting colder and colder, and those bindings froze under her feet after we took a break and we couldn't get them back on because ice was in a place under the binding plate and we couldn't chip it out. After much panic and prayer and a half hour of freezing, I finally bashed it out. Stress like this I don't need in the backcountry.

Great boot, warm
Alpina BC 600 Boot - Womens
December 17, 2005
My friend rented this boot consistently for backcountry touring on packed trails, and of all the boots she used, she always had warm feet with this one. They fit well, and I didn't have to worry about her losing her toes in the backcountry. This is a great boot for trails. I would recommend something else for getting into off trail powder.

croc gaiters
Outdoor Research Crocodiles Gaiter
November 12, 2005
I've used these gaiters almost 10 years through every kind of weather, terrain, obstacle and they are going strong. Even the strap underneath the foot is not ripped after 10 years of yanking, stomping, ripping, rain storms, wet underbrush, wet snow, corn snow and the easiest of all, powder. I wanted to get an extra pair on this web outlet, but stopped myself because I realized these gaiters will last me another 10 years! Mary Ann Majchrzak Rombach
