Inexpensive,but not cheap!
Mountain Hardwear Exposure II Bib - Men's
February 7, 2007
These bibs are a bargain! They're great in deep snow & have all the features I require & more. They're well made, durable, have a kangaroo pouch,& side pockets like pants. The mesh liner is a nice touch as is the way the internal gators were designed. The fit is generous without being overly baggy. The only minor detraction I see is the lack of a storm flap on the fly; it's sometimes a little cool while rolling at high speeds.

Expensive but worth it!
Black Diamond Guide Glove
February 7, 2007
Yes,these gloves are expensive, but you get what you pay for! They are bomber outside, with an awesome removable inner glove. It's different enough from other "liners" that I have to call it a glove instead. They are warm, comfortable & dexterous, & were perfect for heli-skiing which requires you to have your hands in the snow frequently while getting picked up or dropped off. Pony up & you'll be happy you did!

Arcteryx is for climbers
Arc'teryx Alpha SV Bib - Men's
November 17, 2006
I was looking for the best ski bibs out there so I got the Alpha SV. I was suprised that this bib "for climbers & skiers" had no internal gaiter. Not good for skiing! I was also amazed when I realized that in order to go to the bathroom, I had to completely unzip my coat and the powder skirt, and then unzip the bibs from the top to the bottom. TOO MUCH Exposure when it's cold or snowing! At 5'9" ,160 lbs, these bibs are constricting to me. They're designed for someone 15 lbs lighter(read climbers). Arcteryx is for climbers first & maybe skiers 2nd or 3rd.

Sidewinder ain't my style
Arc'teryx Sidewinder SV Jacket - Men's
November 17, 2006
Arcteryx's quality is undeniable, but I think that they are for climbers 1st, and skiers 2nd or so. I'm always digging in my jacket for something, and I found the sealed zippers to be a problem. They are hard to manipulate, especially with gloves on. First, the main zipper would stick where it angles. This might be due to my neckgator, which I always wear. Second, I found that there weren't enough internal pockets. Third, none of their products have a mesh liner to save weight.

deuter cross bike pack
Deuter Cross Bike w/ 2L Reservoir
September 19, 2005
I like the pack, but a couple of problems. The first thing I noticed is that the bladder has a tendency to stick to itself with a little water in it, making it hard to fill. The second and most irritating problem is the mouth piece leaks constantly, even if you try and blow the water back into the reservoir. The service from the site was great and very efficient.
