MSR Dromlite Bags

Rating for this product: 2 May 31, 2006

Sometimes it is better to get your hands on something first rather than buy it just by the description and picture. Kloogy would be the best word for this bag. It neither is easy to fill nor easy to empty nor easy to dry (inside or out - the outside material doesn't shed water as I expected - it actually absorbs it and it is extremely difficult to dry) and the huge cap/cover makes it difficult to load into your backpack water sleeve. It retains no shape unless it’s completely full. It is only good for using with your MSR filter screwed into it. I was disappointed in the design and material. If you use it only with your filter, fill it all the way, and never get the outside wet, it is a decent piece of equipment.

Julbo Nomad Cameleon Polarized Sunglasses

Rating for this product: 5 May 31, 2006

Here is most of what you need to know. During a recent hike in the Andes up to 16,000ft I twice went looking for my sunglasses, and I was wearing them! They’re lightweight, good fit even without nose pads, good light transmission for all but the deep forest and twilight. No sore spots around the nose or ears even after a week of wearing them continuously (during the day of course!). I never used the side shields as the normal shape was sufficient. I'll try the shields this winter on snow.

Mountain Hardwear Convertible Pack Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 May 30, 2006

I wore this shirt 24 hours a day for a six-day backpacking trip and it didn't smell. Pretty much all you need to know! If I wear a normal synthetic I will smell it up in an afternoon. I wore it this much because I needed it for cold nights and wanted the long sleeves to keep sun off during the day. The shirt was also very, very lightweight and comfortable. Be sure to get a big enough size as they run small.
