Mountain Hardwear Wicked Tech T-Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Women's

I wore this long-sleeve tee on a desert hike yesterday; at one point my thermometer read 119 degrees! I stayed comfortable and protected from the sun in this shirt. Very quick-drying and flattering fit.

Salomon Expert Low GTX Hiking Shoe - Women's

I think these are great (especially on sale!), despite the bad reviews above. They are stiffer than the non Gore-Tex of the same model, but I get a kick out of walking through streams, so Gore-Tex is key for me. My feet stayed dry in about an inch of water yesterday. The soles are slippery for about a minute after getting wet but otherwise good grip. If I don't tie the laces tight, my heel slips about 1/3 inch out. This is my first pair of hiking shoes, I’ve always worn heavy boots and what a difference! The size 6.5 fit best and I usually wear a 7.

Good fit and grip, but I passed on these and chose the Gore-Tex of the same model. I needed a size 6 in these, but I wear a 7 in the real world—so order down!

I returned these and chose the same shoe in the "Low" model. These aren't cut high enough to offer ankle support, so I don't know why anyone would choose the added weight. Maybe for protection from plants/rocks?
