Totally trustworthy bag
The North Face Base Camp Duffel Bag - 2560-9070cu in
November 24, 2007
This bag saved me! I teach snowboarding (and other outdoor sports) and I now travel back and forth between Vail CO and Burlington VT. I had a normal backpack material EMS duffel bag that got a huge hole in it after my first trip. I could have lost some very expensive gear. This bag however is perfect. I downsized and got a Lg and its a great size, it really expands to hold everything. The quality is ideal for airline travel as well as carting it around campsites. The backpack straps give me more hands to pull my snowboard bag and other gear through the airport. My boyfriend convinced me to get this bag after he traveled the world competing in Nordic events (his is like 10 years old and looks almost like my new one, maybe a little dirtier). Now i plan to live out of this bag and surf next summer! Don't even think about not having at least one of these bags!

Perfect Layer
Patagonia Capilene 4 Hoody - Women's
November 24, 2007
This shirt is amazing. I was scared when I got it since its much lighter and thinner than the old Cap 4, but it's much better. I wore this for the first time hiking a fourteener. It got really cold and windy at the top so i flipped up the hood and slipped my hands through the thumb holes. It was the perfect amount of warmth... Plus, even though I was really sweaty, the shirt did a very good job at keeping me dry so the wind didn't freeze me. On the way down as it warmed up I unzipped it all the way down and instantly cooled off. My boyfriend wanted one after that trip but they don't make it in mens... this was an excellent investment!

Gotta have these...
Ibex Switchback Full Zip - Women's
November 24, 2007
I have the switchback jacket and pullover. I'm addicted to wool now. It's so warm, light, AND it doesn't stink like fleece stuff. The jacket runs a little small, especially after the first wash. The pullover is a bit big but I actually love it that way! I got these to teach snowboarding in since I'm constantly sweating when I ride all day and they don't smell! Now, I wear these pieces for everything i do! climbing, mt. biking, snowboarding, hiking, post kayak/surf...IBEX rocks!

Ibex Shak Full Zip Sweater - Women's
November 24, 2007
I love everything I've gotten from Ibex. It's warm, sustainable, fashionable, etc. I don't use this as a technical piece because it's a great looking sweater and it feels good to put on after a hard day of biking or snowboarding. The sizing is true.. i usually wear med. and this med. fits perfectly. It's pricey stuff but definitely worth it!

Poor Quality
Burton AK Gore 2L Vent Pant - Men's
November 24, 2007
I've taught snowboarding for over six years. I haven't been able to find a pant that moves well with snowboarders other than burton pants however... the first week I owned these pants the crotch ripped open (while I was teaching a lesson). After 3 weeks of horrible customer service from the VT Burton flagship company, they finally returned them to me. A few weeks later the pocket where I kept my Burton snowboard tool got a large thin spot and hole in it from wear, the bottom leg zippers started pulling away from the fabric, and the knees rapidly began wearing away(there isn't enough fabric to be waterproof). Bad quality. Bad service. I used to be a big Burton fan....

Smith Toaster Sunglasses - Interchangeable
May 8, 2006
I used to swear by Smith sunglasses. But I switched when my polarized lenses got a stress fracture and Smith wouldn't give me the time of day. Smith will not under any circumstances, even manufacturing flaws, warranty lenses. That's an expensive replacement (especially when I've no reason to believe the lenses won't fracture again).

Marmot Tamarack Jacket - Women's

Runs true to size, durable material, definitely well-designed for women. Sweet vents and hood. Overall - great shell, can't wait to abuse it riding! Nothing but good luck so far with Marmot.

Marmot PreCip Jacket - Men's
April 23, 2005
Dude, this jacket definately scored me some brownie points at home. Dad loves it, he's already raved about using it for mt. bike rides...he stays dry and it breathes so well he doesn't have to take it off when he sweats (that's impressive!). He already plans to use it as a snowboarding jacket for spring riding. Runs true to size. Definately a rockin' investment.
