Jetboil Gourmet Cooking Set
May 28, 2008
Nearly everyone I know who backpacks is joining the Jetboil bandwagon. When a product works this well everyone catches on pretty quick. I have everything they make except for the coffee press(what am I waiting for). I just picked up the Gourmet Cooking Set to acquire the fry pan. Now we are a two Jetboil family. I'm looking forward to some tasty tortilla meals! The included spatula/fork/spoon are a nice addition. I should have acquired them sooner instead of spending bucks on titaniumware. The Jetboil system is not a minimalist's dream but the convenience and ease of operation are worth a few extra ounces in my backpack!

A great aquatics skin
NRS Hydrosilk Rash Guard - Long-Sleeve - Men's
May 28, 2008
These are great shirts for water activities. I originally bought one for its sun protection value and it turned out to be my favorite aquatics skin. Keep it in natural waters, they don't fare well in chlorinated waterparks or pools. My son and I both wear them for swimming, canoeing and snorkling. They dry fast and keep you warm in a cool breeze.

Highgear Alterra Altimeter Watch
April 28, 2008
This is the second Alterra I've owned. The first one had cosmetic issues with the soft rubber sides coming off but the new version has hard plastic sides that stay put. The face is large enough to see for 50+ eyes even without readers. If you actually know how an altimeter works you'll find this watch to be highly accurate. The dual time zones and seperate alarms are easy to set and switching between them is a breeze. The compass is quite sensitive and works well as a backup to get you home in any winter whiteout. It has the usual chronograph and timer functions. Mine has remained water proof after several hours in the Green River in Utah during a five day canoe trip. Well worth the money spent.
