Crank Brothers 5050 X Pedals
June 29, 2008
Crank Brothers makes amazing stuff. Their pedals have never let me down and if they have, the Bros have replaced them quickly without any issues.

Rome Agent: An instant classic
Rome Agent Snowboard
December 7, 2007
The board rides really really really well. I went with a 156 instead of my usual 158-162 for all mtn or 152-154 for jibbing. The middle of the road I figured made the most sense. What I found was that this board does a lot of things really really well. The light core lets it spin like nobody's business while the impact plates really help with the landings. The carbon laminate and core profile creates some serious pop while also letting me rail down the hill. Buttering is ridiculously easy on this board, ridiculously easy. Setting the board on edge is easy and the board is super stable at speed. I expected it to ride more like a door at speed, but it rode icy groomers like a champ! My only quibble was as I spun it, my edges seemed to catch a lot easier than I would expect for a park board. Of course I did a really shitty job detuning them, so I attribute it mainly to that and the fact that the swing weight is really low so I was probably over spinning. Overall it's definitely a park board that rides all mountain well (say 65% park, 45% mtn) but for the average soul, you would never know that it couldn't shine maching some GS turns. I have to say at this price, it's hard not to say yes to the Agent.

One of the most comfy shorts
Oakley MTB 2.6 Mountain Bike Shorts - Men's
October 28, 2007
I've ridden these from XC races to lift-assisted downhilling. Great shorts with solid venting and great padding. Great for those occasions where you don't want to look like Lance Armstrong. Watch out for the sizing. I'm usually a M in bike shorts and had to go to a L.

Great for around town
Oakley The Standard Jacket - Men's
February 13, 2007
Great for around town. Fits great, but not so functional snowboarding. And if it gets wet, the cord just soaks up water. But I love wearing it around town or post winter surf. Definitely steezie.

Great pants
Oakley Mace Pant - Mens
October 6, 2005
Great pants. Watch the sizing though. I normally wear a large in Burton and other brands and had to step it up to the XL for these.

Super good pants. Nice, stylie, functional. No complaints yet. Size up as Oakley pants are a bit slimmer than Burton or others.

good not great
Giro Bad Lieutenant Helmet
September 25, 2005
Good helmet. Stylie, but a bit heavy. I had no problem with the venting, but you think Giro could have added some of that nice light technology that they have for their other helmets (bike, snow) in this one too.

Great ski pack
DAKINE Heli-Pro Backpack - 1000-1200 cu in
March 6, 2005
Got this pack on the recommendation of a few people. Got the large size. Originally was looking at the Pro 2 or the Poacher, but this pack served up all of my needs for day skiing and in and out of bounds. Perfect spots for everything and enough space for an extra layer, a bunch of lunches, extra goggles, sunglasses, lip balm, camera, etc. Haven't had a chance to use the snowboard straps... I would say if you were a hardcore snowboarder I would go with the Pro 2 or something with a more dedicated vertical carry system. But so far it rocks... and also works well as a daypack.
