Marmot Trestles Sleeping Bag: 15 Degree Spirafil
November 11, 2004
As if there aren't already enough good reviews of this bag... Take it from yet another happy customer, this bag is amazing for the money. Super warm, looks cool, and man, just TRY to get this zipper snagged!! My favorite feature of this bag is the heavy fabric surrounding the zipper. I'm a long-time "el cheapo" sleeping bag buyer. Now I can still feel like a cheapskate but reap the benefits of a real quality bag. Are you sure you got the price right on this one, Backcountry?

Snow Peak GigaPower Stove Manual Ignition
November 2, 2004
Been checking out canister stoves in REI for awhile and finally decided to order GigaPower from Backcountry. It was either this one or MSR's Pocketrocket. Something about the look of this stove really caught my eye. Works great in no wind, but not so great in any wind. I really recommend getting a windscreen to be happy with this stove. Also, forget about auto-ignite...the feature weighs as much as a book of matches and matches are far more reliable.

I got what I paid for---a nice light pad!!!
Therm-a-Rest Ridge Rest Sleeping Pad
October 23, 2004
I recently bought the Marmot Trestles 15 sleeping bag in a package deal with this pad. Reading the above reviews make me wonder if anyone here has even camped before!! This is a $20 ultralight closed cell pad--not an inflatable bed!! If you want a pad that is light, low priced, and actually quite comfortable, look no further! Just remember--this pad sleeps like a $20 pad. Got what I paid for and couldn't be happier with my purchase. ***** in my book!!

Great Buy!
Sierra Designs Sirius Tent 2-Person 3-Season
October 4, 2004
Nice tent. Very nice price! Stood up to about 8 hours of heavy wind and rain this weekend with not a drop inside the tent. (Can't say the same about my buddy's Wal-Mart tent!!) He was miserable. The one and ONLY thing I didn't like about this tent was the flaps over the zippers. they offer good protection, but will get hung up every time if you don't pay attention. VERY minor nuisance hardly worth mentioning. HIGHLY recommended for your first serious tent.
