Mcnett Seam Grip

McNett Seam Grip 1 oz with Brush Applicator

Rating for this product: 5 October 4, 2004

Excellent seam sealer. Coverage is much less than manufacturer's estimate; for a 2 person tent you will need at least 3 1oz tubes to seal the major seams. I used about 1.5 tubes but thinned it (not sure you're supposed to thin it). It was easier to apply thinned out rather than directly from the tube. It takes at least 24 hours to dry and if you don't let it dry thoroughly it will stick to itself or other parts of the tent - you will never get it apart. After a minimum of 24 hours dust it with talcum powder to eliminate this problem. Alternatively Mcnett has a "cure accelerator" called Cotol-240 which will cause it to tac-up in about 10 minutes and cure in 2 hours (still need to dust with talcum). Also, need to be careful and not spill this on other parts of the tent as it will melt the existing coating. In summary, requires patience, time, and a little know how, but delivers the best and strongest sealed seem.
