Good product, misleading pictures
Columbia Omni-Dry Mountain Tech T-Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Men's
August 13, 2008
Would have been 5 starts, but there is a logo on the front of the shirt that is not in the picture. I have about 8 of these shirts from over the years and I do not like the logo on them. I don't believe it is appropriate marketing and would not have ordered it if I would have known. The picture should match the product. I was happy that they are active-fit.

Great Shirt for work or for fun!
prAna Twist Top - Long-Sleeve - Women's

Love this shirt. Great look, comfortable and has cut that fits long athletic torsos and arms very well. Might even buy a 2nd one.

4th Pair of these - Still the best! AAA+++
The North Face Paramount Convertible Pant - Men's
September 21, 2006
I now have 4 pairs of these pants. They are simply my favorite. I wear Medium-Tall and again thanks for carrying tall sizes. The fabric is tough and can take the worst abuse, they have a good full cut yet don't look anything like the clown pants that other convertible pants look like. Pockets where you want them. AAA+++

Great Shirt
The North Face Meridian Ventilation Plaid Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Men's
August 23, 2006
I love this shirt. I bought an XL and it fits great. It has a generous cut to it, but not too much. I am about 6'2" 185lbs and have a 16" neck circumference and a 36.5" sleeve length, so shirts are hard to find that fit the sizing charts. I find the XL's for the North Face long sleeve shirts work for me. The other reviewer is correct, there is mesh on the sides of the shirt, but it didn't bother me at all. I love the zippered pockets too. Functions as described! AAA+++

Seemed fine to me.
Platypus Big Zip II Hydration System
August 23, 2006
My first experience with one of these systems. The main reservoir seemed very durable and never leaked at all during its maiden trek in Glacier National Park backcountry. The bite valve did leak a little at the start of the trip, but I think it resolved itself somehow... likely user error. We had the 2 liter model and it did the job.

Afterglow Purple Not Quite Purple Enough
The North Face Kiani Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Women's
August 17, 2006
Decided to send this one back. Ordered the Afterglow Purple and the shirt I received looked more brown than purple. It certainly didn't look like the shirt in the picture on the website. I don't know if it was a fluke or what, but decided not to risk it. It was a no hassle return though so I am thankful for that.

Buyer Beware - Cut has changed since 2005
Columbia Omni-Dry Highland T-Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Men's
June 21, 2006
I have four of these tees from 2005. I bought one of the new ones for 2006 and noticed right away that it didn't fit like my other Highland Tees. It appears Columbia switched the cut on the "Highland Tee" from what they call "Active Fit" to "Authentic Fit". I got the terms from the little tags attached to their shirts Basically, it means that if you have an athletic build and do NOT like a lot of extra fabric around the midsection and the arms, the 2006 version of the Highland Tee is not for you. If you like the sleek, long torso cut of the 2005 version, they are apparently nowhere to be found except on clearance racks, you will need to look elsewhere for an "active fit" tee.

My favorite All Around Pant's
The North Face Paramount Convertible Pant - Men's
May 6, 2006
I have three pairs of these pants and have tried on dozens of others brands and models and keep coming back. I like how these pants are practically bombproof (they won't rip), don't look like clown pants, and they have pockets where I want them. Lastly, I wear a medium-tall and thank this site for supporting tall sizes. It is why I shop here.

Marmot DriClime Windshirt - Men's
May 6, 2006
I bought this windshirt on a whim being told by a few sources that once you have one, it will become a staple for your backcountry trips. I just got back from a four-day backpack in the Smokey’s in North Carolina and took the DriClime instead of my normal polar fleece, and I can honestly say I am a believer now. At first, I thought the shirt looked kind of funny. I had a shirt in the 80's that felt similar (fabric wise only) to be honest. But trying to be open minded, I gave it a shot. Bottom line, it blocked the wind well in the mountain passes, it takes up less than 1/2 the room in my pack as my fleece did, and it seemed to be equivalently warm.

Great Stove - Hightly Reccomend
Snow Peak GigaPower Stove Auto Ignition
May 6, 2006
I used this stove for a couple years, and only now am I getting around to writing a review. The stove itself is well designed and with a 110g fuel canister burns for about 45 minutes. The only complaint I have is that while a cool feature, the Auto Ignition broke after about 6 months of use, just like everyone told me it would. I just removed it with a screwdriver (takes 10 seconds) and think I like it even better without it. Except for the Auto Ignition, I have never had an issue.
