They felt good from the get-go. Too nice looking to ruin, right off the bat, by hiking in them. Merrell needs to work on consistent sizing. I've never worn a 9 and 1/2, but that's what fit the best. I swear by Merrell products. They endure tough terrain and always feel good on my feet after many hours of hiking.
