Love my Crux Lite

Optimus Crux Lite Stove

Rating for this product: 5 May 29, 2008

Small, hot, and light. Some of the information in the above product description applies to the more deluxe Optimus Crux i.e. the burner head doesn't fold down on the Crux Lite, but the pot stabilizing prongs fold in, as does the flame control handle. It gets almost as small as the Crux and is lighter. Weight 2.5 OZ. What I really like about this stove is: The burner head spreads the flame out, and I can cook a soup or stew on simmer and not scorch the food. It's still supposed to be the hottest stove in it's class with 10,200BTU. Dee

MSR HyperFlow Microfilter

May 18, 2008

Question for the first to review this? I know this is supposed to be the hot new filter. I wnet to MSR web-site and looked at instructions. They say do not pump any kind of dirty water throught it----did you try----or is it pristine water only?

Also the instructions show a 9 step back-flushing process that you must do every 8 liters or one day. It looked complicated and I go with groups on overnight trips where we pump way more than 8 liters at a time. Question 2. How did you do on the backflushing? thanks, Dee

Optimus Crux Lite Stove

Refering to the picture shown above: No. It's darn small as is---the burner doesn't fold down like on the Crux. The arms on the burner do fold in and the green flame control also folds in. I love mine! Dee
